Jackie Griswold About

A jewelry artist turned painter and photographer, I draw my inspiration from nature - the soft pinks and greys of a sunset, the vibrant red of a geranium, the turquoise waters of the ocean. Art, in its many forms, maintains my sanity and my serenity by keeping me grounded while I fly. I find myself particularly drawn to the Abstract Expressionist style of painting at this juncture - the raw emotion and energy that comes out when I'm painting mystifies and excites me. Mixed media work allows me to add depth and texture that adds to the energy. 16 comments

I have lived in New England all my life, and have found inspiration in the White Mountains of New Hampshire, the rocky Maine coast, fields of wildflowers in Western get the idea.

I began making beaded jewelry nearly 20 years ago, and continue to get lost in my bead stash. More recently, however, I've come back to an early interest in photography and painting, and I'm also experimenting with mixed media.

When I'm not painting, beading or snapping photos, I'm a college professor, a Reiki Master-Teacher, wife, and mother (described by my son as "a hippie without the drugs") who maintains my connection with nature in all of the various forms my art takes.
