I was touched by your explanation of "Sacred Imperfections" and finding the beauty in our own imperfections. It reminded me so much of the journey that I have been on recently. I just completed a painting of butterflies, with nothing inspirational in thought as I started it, other than the fact that butterflies are so beautiful. As I neared completion, I was wondering what to call it and began to see spiritual symbolism in it, that I had not really planned at all. It just sort of evolved into what it became. I had so much trouble trying to figure out a background that would set off the butterflies, since they were all different colors, and many had a black design in them, but, black seemed the only background that finally worked. Yet, I used all sorts of colors in the background, and ended up painting purple on top of all the colors. It ended up looking black. The blackness reminded me of the darkness in life. And yet the butterflies represent to me, all the people from different parts of the world, different races, cultures that have found new life and forgiveness of their pasts, through faith in Jesus Christ. It is Jesus that said we must be "Born Again" in order to see the kingdom of God. NO matter what our past has been, we can find a new start and beginning, fresh and new, when we ask God's forgiveness. No matter who we are, what our race is, or where we came from, we all become beautiful and unique and welcome into the glorious family of God, each beautiful in our own unique way. There are no two people exactly alike, and it is in our differences that we can celebrate the unique beauty of our "imperfections", made perfect through the grace and mercy of Jesus.

Silver, at last I went to your site, which is impressive. To me it shows a lot of work behind it. Your portraits have always touched me, as I've told you. What talent overall!

i don't know if this will make thru to you, but i think your work is pretty awesome. i don't know if you remember a quilt you made when you first started quilting, but i do,it was a spanish guitar set against a window sill. there was a beautiful hillside in the background, tiny squares echoing the meriad changes of the color of nature. that quilt made me want to learn to quilt.

I love the style you've developed since I was a child. It's a lot different than the abstracts I remember such as the one that's kind of outer space. What you're doing now seems to represent more of your personality that I know. Wonderful work.
