Biography
"Abstract Expressionism" or "Romantic Realism", Susan Goodwin's work cannot be pigeonholed by style or semantics. Her vibrant colors, use of texture and precise drawing skills have resulted in a magnificent body of work. She frequently uses a palette knife to create bold gestures and a sense of excitement and movement in her paintings.
In her oil paintings, Goodwin contrives to create a mood of hope and joie de vie. Her paintings are designed to inspire people to pursue their dreams and live life to its fullest.
Ms. Goodwin splits her time between homes in Vermont and Long Island which is reflected in her wide variety of subjects. Her favorite subjects to paint are the human figure, seascapes, and alpine scenes.
Ms. Goodwin received a BBA from University of Wisconsin-Madison and a Masters degree from the University of Minnesota. She also studied art at Stony Brook University and the Southern Vermont Arts Center (SVAC). She was highly influenced by the SVAC art instructors Charles Gruppe and Karen Winslow.
