Saré Deome About
I was born in Maine, but moved to Massachusetts, where I spent my childhood years. I started painting in pastels and acrylics while in high school and fell absolutely in love with art then.
Later, after nursing school,in Boston, and a 5 year stint in the Army Nurse Corps, (including an "all expense paid trip to Vietnam", where I was head nurse of a 50 bed immediate post-op ward during the war), I found solice from the sadness, and pain I felt upon returning home from the war, in my best friend, painting.
Art was my refuge and I tried it all, studying with many well known national and international artists. I kept taking as many classes as I could to perfect my paintings.
I ended up teaching painting, for many years since 1982. Quilting I started to teach as well, in the early 1990's. And, presently teach jewelry making also.
My love of art lead me to open a store, "Eye of the Beholder" , where we taught many classes and carried all the supplies necessary. After 5 years, we closed the store, which gave me more time to pursue my art.
I've been married to my other "first love" for nearly 42 years. We served together in Vietnam, although, he was in the infantry, and not stationed with me.
We have 2 wonderful children and nearly 3 grandchildren, as my daughter, in NC is due in October this year(2009),with her 2nd child, a daughter. My son,and his wife, have our other grandson and live here in FL.
We moved to Saint Augustine,FL, 2 years ago, and absolutely love it, the beaches, salt air, unbelievable history, and so many fine art galleries, and artists. It's a wonderful place to live and paint.
