Spring Comes to Deerfield
The last of the "Four Season" compositions, this quilted paper celebrates the recognizable designs of Deerfield embroidery and incorporates the idea of the Connecticut River into the work. The piece is comprised of original paste paper, with the serpentine floral patterns hand embroidered on top, along with Japanese rice papers and corrugated board. The medallion at the center is a detail of a postcard of one of my original paintings. All seams are joined by thread and the whole work is stitched onto watercolor paper. Silk matboard, carved wood frame.
