Here is a colorful square-format photograph of an unusual lilac pink Allium flower. Photographed in Queen Mary's Garden, Regent's Park, London, UK, the background of this image is a beautiful blurred mixture of the garden's green and purple flora. Hang multiple square works together or in combination with rectangular pieces to create an eye-catching art arrangement. http://ronablack.com/featured/lilac-pink-allium-rona-black.html. http://ronablack.com/collections/square+format

While enduring yet another insufferable delay on Delta last weekend, I became fascinated by the variety of lights on the Detroit runway. Rain-soaked Peonies has become my best-selling image. It is the first of my photographs to have been purchased in every format offered: framed prints, stretched canvas prints and greeting cards. I found these beautiful flowers in London at the Middle Temple Garden of the Inns of Court in the spring of 2009. I've never seen any other like them. They were unusual both for their size and color; they were quite large and the color gradation included pink and yellow in the same bloom. Raindrops added to the unique presentation. rona-black.artistwebsites.com 0 comments

This agapanthus flower was practically glowing under the mid-afternoon sun in San Francisco. Though its varying shades of purple and lavender were beautiful, the resulting photo is more dramatic in black and white because of the light. rona-black.artistwebsites.com 0 comments

Variegated tulips fascinate me. They appear in many color combinations here in Salt Lake City. To see more of my collection of tulip photographs, visit www.rona-black.artistwebsites.com. rona-black.artistwebsites.com 0 comments

Interior Design by Rona Black. Yesterday it snowed again here in Salt Lake City for what I can only hope will be the last time this season. This crocus emerged close to the beginning of spring, during the last week of March. rona-black.artistwebsites.com 0 comments

First Prize by Rona Black. This Masdevallia Machu Micchu orchid took first prize in its category at the Utah Orchid Society's spring show held last week at Red Butte Garden. Though it was snowing outside, the flower-filled Orangerie gave off a whiff of spring. rona-black.artistwebsites.com 0 comments

During a snow shower in Salt Lake City on Monday, I used a Leica Macro 45mm f/2.8 lens to shoot this macro. http://rona-black.artistwebsites.com/featured/falling-snowman-rona-black.html. rona-black.artistwebsites.com 0 comments

Reflection, 2009 This represents somewhat of a departure from my typical abstract photography. Until now I've most often kept with a nature theme, sticking to macro abstracts of flowers and plants. This is a cropped photo of one of the reflecting pools at the Salt Lake City Library. rona-black.artistwebsites.com. http://www.activesearchresults

Rainy Day Leaves It just so happens that this year's Fall season in Salt Lake is turning out to be one of the most colorful in recent memory. The other day, a woman who has lived here for many decades told me she'd never seen so much orange in the changing leaves. I took this macro photograph while it was raining and the color is probably more vivid that it would have been had the sun been shining. rona-black.artistwebsites.com. http://www.activesearchresults 1 comment

A Peek Inside, 8" _ 8" Much of the photography I do is extremely close up or macro. While shooting, some details are visible, but quite often the intricacies of line and color are not apparent. In this macro photograph of the interior of a red tulip, I was unable to see the purple tones or the dew on the yellow flower bud until the image was developed. As happens quite often with macro photography, the final result was a bit of a surprise. rona-black.artistwebsites.com. http://www.activesearchresults 0 comments
