Robin Westenhiser About

I am a former high school art teacher and now work as an artist from my home studio in Tucson, Arizona. 1 comment

I work from my home in Tucson with a view of the beautiful Santa Catalina mountains. I am a collector of many things, Zuni fetishes, old Navajo sterling spoons, Mexican and Native American jewelry, Mexican folk art pottery, especially the work of Josefina Aguilar, Mexican mermaids and Day of the Dead skeletons. I find inspiration in my colorful southwestern surroundings, I love my Sonoran desert, the mountains that surround my city and our big blue sky. My close proximity to the border has developed a deep love of Mexico, the colors, the foods, the traditions and the people. One tradition that has found its way into my work is Dia de Los Muertos, the day of the dead. I don't have any deep or hidden meanings in my work, I just love to paint my skellies with bright colors that make me happy. My paintings make me smile and I hope they make others smile too!
