Trish Savides About
I began drawing and painting in 1995 while studying fine arts at Springfield Technical Community College in Springfield, MA. After exhausting the fine arts courses at STCC, I began exploring other avenues of learning while simultaneously raising a family.
I discovered the nationwide workshops of Frank Covino in 1999.
I studied this method using Frank Covino's Classical and Academic approach to painting. This renaissance method gave me the tools to achieve results I feel give timeless beauty to portraits, still life or landscape. Learning this method enabled me to be invited to paint in the Louvre with 12 other artists in October 2000.
In April 2006 I experienced another approach to portraiture from world renowned Nashville Artist, Michael Shane Neal in his weeklong workshops. His approach to portraiture is painting in a Sargent like manner called "brushy realism". I have truly enjoyed taking these workshops from Shane and I continue to study his method. I feel learning from the best adds to my lifelong approach to oil portraits, landscapes and still lifes.
