Biography
I studied at Amherst College and Harvard University, combining art and art history, and also with Helena Zelezny in Rome, Italy. My specialties are landscape and portraiture. I work primarily from life, though I will do portraits from photographs as needed. I work quickly, in sessions of about an hour, and try to capture the immediacy and truth of a given moment in light and color. In nature, my preferred subjects are winter scenes, scenes with dramatic clouds, and the subtle colors within the browns and greys of the world.
