Kurt Piper About

For close to 20 years, Kurt has created beautiful functional furniture in his 2800 square foot studio at the Indian Orchard Mills. His unusual work incorporates a variety of materials including petrified wood, extraordinary veneers, native and imported solid hardwoods and metal. 3 comments


Kurt Piper received training 30 years ago at Boston University's Program in Artisanry from Jere Osgood. That experience was followed by an apprenticeship with Timothy Philbrick in Naragansett, RI.

He was awarded the Travel Stipend Award at the Philadelphia Furniture & Furnishings Show, facilitating a trip to Paris and Nancy, France to study Art Nouveau and Art Deco furniture. Kurt's work has also been seen at the Providence Furniture & Furnishings and ACC shows, as well as at galleries from Boston to Nashville and Taos. He was selected for The Custom Furniture Source Book from The Taunton Press and featured in the Guild's Custom Furniture Sourcebook Two. Major work receiving additional press includes a residence in Longmeadow, Mass featured in Living Spaces magazine a Turley Publication and El Monte Sagrado Resort, Taos, NM, featured in Hotels and Resorts magazine and in Southwest magazine.
