Jean Strauss About

A self-taught collager, I use both new and found papers to construct mostly abstract wall art, with occasional forays into the sister-art of assemblage. My goal is to make art that is pleasing and meaningful. 3 comments

Biography

A native of the Boston area, Jean is a self-taught artist who began experimenting with collage and assemblage in the 1970's when her art was offered for sale in her antique and craft shop, "The Past Preserved." In that period she used small antiques, remembrances, and old photographs in her work. Many were in the category of assemblages using three-dimensional objects rather than two-dimensional collages. Since then, Jean has explored emerging collage methods and is using the many interesting art papers now available, as well as tokens of the past.
