Nancy Rodrigo About

I am a New York City artist, began my art career under the name Nancy Weinstock during the 1980's in the East Village. I was a member of Semaphore East Gallery, (Annie Heron, director). I have been creating "Memory Art" since 1990. Work that is inspired by old photographs. and found objects. The pieces are shrines, ritualistic in nature. I create them on paper, canvas and build wood constructions and boxes. Much of my work is an expression of societal and political issues. I have a long history of political activism, and my commitment to empowerment and change naturally evolved when I became a social worker. I am also exploring pen and ink (portraits of people on the subways) and watercolors, oils and acrylics. I am constantly exploring new mediums and subjects. My most recent work, Biomorphic Series is inspired by nature, most specifically Prospect Park, where I walk and explore every day. 4 comments
