Just got word that my painting "Approaching Storm" was accepted in the Jackson Civic Art Association at the Ella Sharp Museum competition. It will be there until June. I had it framed with a beautiful mat and frame that matched the painting. This watercolor was done with a large brush and many back runs. I loved the colors and how the clouds formed so nicely. Every other year the Museum has a special show just for the Art Club. We can enter 2 paintings. I was happy to get in, as there are many fine artists in the club. This was a fun painting, as I wet the surface and then put some paint on and when it started to dry, I added more paint--the paint would hit the dry spots and make these back runs. I really let the watercolor do its thing. That is an exciting way to use watercolor. It does take some practice. The reception for the artists is April 27th. If any one reading this is near Jackson, Michigan. Look me up. Millie

Congratualtions, Millie! Being a fan of both watercolor and thunderstorms, I really enjoy this painting! I hope it is well received.

Nice job Millie,
I think skies are one of the hardest things to get right, especially clouds. You have really captured the mood here. I'm not surprised you were accepted this is a great painting. Congratulations.
