Experiment Helps You Learn

I think that experimenting in painting is the great way to improve your work. I have found that out. I usually try something new every once in a while --just for fun. I find that it does help me to see things differently. Right now I am working with acrylics on paper. I put a layer of gesso on it and let it dry. Then I scrumble paint on it. The next step is to keep using layers of paint mixed with gel medium and then keep some of the underneath colors showing After many buildups of paint- you varnish it with Mattte varnish--and its ready to frame. I have'nt finished this one so far. Will let you know how it comes out. In the meantime--I am putting on another one of my experiments that I did awhile ago --It is a heavy gel medium--only I textured it first and then painted it. You might like to try this.Maybe you already have--Let me know.
