Spend a Day Working on Unfinished paintings

by MILLIEGIFTSMITH , January 21, 2013—03:49 PM

Topics: All Posts

This really snowy day, I decided to do some different work. I looked at some of my unfinished paintings and Decided "Yes, this is the day to do just that" So I got out my watercolors and choose an almost finished work ,to do. I will start on another one soon. it is so refreshing to finish something that has been around for awhile. I know that most artists have many works that just" almost" are done, and then put aside till later. I know I do. So why not look up some old work an get it done. Here is one that I finished today. I already had 2 compliments on it. Maybe it will get someones eye and buy it. What do you think? Will you agree it is fun to know that it is worth it all, just to do it… Continue reading… 2 comments

Wishing you all the very best this year. May it be as colorful as this painting. I am so glad that Christ was born , and He lives in my heart today. Blessings to all… Continue reading… 2 comments

ABSTRACT or REALISM

by MILLIEGIFTSMITH , November 15, 2012—06:35 PM

Lately I have been doing a lot of abstracts. They fascinate me. I guess after painting for so many years, it is refreshing to just let yourself go and paint. I don't really understand exactly what makes a good abstract, but that doesnt matter to me. I just like the freedom of painting them. I have always liked to try new things, and this is a challenge to me. I still do realism too, but not as much. I guess when I started making videos,I wanted to have them different techniques. I have over 120 videos now on youtube. Now I want to talk about this painting on my blog. I have been reading a lot about Israel and all the rockets and problems they are facing. I believe that they are God's choosen people. I know that everyone won't think my way, but still--I believe… Continue reading… 1 comment

Danger in Studio

by MILLIEGIFTSMITH , November 1, 2012—10:29 AM

Topics: All Posts

This painting I started as a video. I named it "Rejoice" However, when I was working on it, My chair fell on top of me. It caught on the plastic and down I went. Well, the painting is not finished yet and half the video is gone. I guess it is going to be half a video. May put it on . I guess I was just too engrossed in the painting to watch what I was doing, as a result I have a very badly black and blue foot, and sore hip. Nothing was broken, which is good. I hope that this will remind you other artists, that it can be a dangerous place if we get too involved in what we are painting. I am doing o.k. but it isnt any fun to hurt. I guess I can rejoice that nothing was broken… Continue reading… 1 comment

Never too Old to Learn

by MILLIEGIFTSMITH , October 22, 2012—12:00 AM

Painting is a forever thing with me. At 92 years of age, I am still learning. I try to paint every day and learn more. Until I take my last breath, I shall paint. My belief is that ---- the Lord says He has gone to prepare a place for me. I know that it will be a beautiful studio there in Heaven, so I can paint the whole world. When God gives one the love I have to paint, I know He is faithful to see that I just keep painting forever and forever. Someday, He will call me home and my work here will be done, but it really wont be done in Heaven. I fashion I will paint the Heavens, the planets, and God as He really is. What a joy it is to know that this life is just a beginning, and someday go to one that last forever. Yesterday I painted 5 owls… Continue reading… 1 comment

NEW SERIES

by MILLIEGIFTSMITH , September 16, 2012—05:08 PM

I see all these old barns that have started to fall down, it is sorta like this world we live in--fallen. So I started doing a series of these old barns. I am using watercolor and charcoal on this one. I do like the combination to get the effect I want. I know that it is different then the things I have been doing, and I like to change to something unusual. I was out today taking pictures of some old barns here in Michigan. Not many are left standing. I plan on doing a video of one soon. I love barns, as I was born on a farm, and spent hours playing in the hay. Memories are good to paint, but I hate to see the barns going. I am doing them sorta in the abstract. Hope you will keep watching for my new work… Continue reading… 0 comments

WHEN A PAINTING TURNS INTO A MEMORY

by MILLIEGIFTSMITH , August 11, 2012—12:00 AM

I started out with liquid acrylics. I did'nt have anything in mind. as I kept painting I begin to realize I was making a large bridge. It was exactly like the bridge I have crossed when a child. I used to visit my grandma in a little town in Illinois. We traveled one day to a nearby small town and had to cross that bridge. Coming home that night, we ran into fog. It happened that we could'nt see the bridge very good. In fact, we could not even see the end of it. So, I said "Is this the bridge to nowhere?" That name stuck with me and this is the painting, It brought back many memories. So, when we paint, we may be making memories… Continue reading… 2 comments

Mountains are my favorite places to paint. I don't live by them but wish I did. I have been to Grand lake, Colorado years ago and it was a great inspiration to me. Just recently I sold this painting to my doctor and he has it hanging in the reception room. So, everytime I go to the doctor I can see my painting. I called it "Ray Of Hope" I thought I would share this with you. Maybe you have a favorite place and I would love to hear about it. Please write me… Continue reading… 1 comment

BUSY AS A BEAVER

by MILLIEGIFTSMITH , June 15, 2012—12:00 AM

Now I know how a beaver may feel. they swim and find logs and carry them back to make a home. back and forth, back and forth, all day. What do I have in common with a beaver??? Well, for three days I have been that busy. I started to change my galleries---I took a lot of pictures and put them in the warehouse, then I took pictures of new paintings and put them in a new gallery. I decided to try a new approach to it all. In, fact, just like a beaver, I had to build each gallery. Wow! that is work. I am putting my galleries according to the meduim, not the subject. ALL MIXED UP. Its just a new try to attract buyers, [I hope.] Please look me up and tell me what you think. I do appreciate other artists opinion. Maybe you have a good suggestion. However, it will have to remain as is for a spell… Continue reading… 0 comments

What happens when your favorite thing--a computer, gets sick??? Had to take it to a computer doctor. I was really lost. I did get a lender, but that's not very great to do all the work I have to do. So today I put a video on--hope you watch it. I am now happy. The doctor said--don't go to a lot of sites that are not good and expose your computer to a bug… Continue reading… 1 comment

ANOTHER NEW ABSTRACT

by MILLIEGIFTSMITH , April 10, 2012—12:00 AM

Topics: All Posts

There are times that require an abstract. This was done as a video. I had no idea what to paint, but just painted under circumstances that were not too good. My stepdaughter was very ill and taken to the hospital in an ambulance. So, I started to paint and this is what happened. I hope you can see the emotion. It is so wonderful to be an artist and let out all your feelings on a painting. I thank God every day for this great love I have to paint and create. I hope that she will be alright. My prayers are with her… Continue reading… 2 comments
