Michael Bell About

Michael Bell (born April 10, 1971) is an American artist to the stars and a painter | muralist. He is famous for painting portraits for the likes of late alleged mob boss John Gotti and The Sopranos actors Joseph R. Gannascoli (Vito Spatafore) and Tony Sirico (Paulie Gualtieri). Bell's large-format, narrative oil paintings have been exhibited in New York City, Los Angeles and Chicago. Bell has done work with Denise Brown, sister to Nicole Brown Simpson, the slain ex-wife of O.J. Simpson and was featured regularly with New York actors and artists on a weekly talk radio show based in New York City. Add Comment


Michael Bell is famous for painting portraits, by commission, for some of the most famous and infamous people of our time,including: the late John Gotti, numerous actors from television hit shows The Sopranos, Law & Order, CSI: Miami, and from movies such as Goodfellas, A Bronx Tale and more!

As a professional artist, Bell's larger than-life narrative thematic painting series' have been exhibited in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago.

As professional arts educator, Bell is one of the top educators in the nation. A nominee for the 2010 National Young Educator of the Year Award, 2009 Washington Post Agnes Meyer Award, one of 24 2004-2005 Maryland State Teachers or the Year award, the 2004 AACPS Teacher of the Year. and the 2002 MAEA Most Outstanding Arts Educator award recipient. Bell was one of just two selected 2009 National Blue Ribbon Presenters for Secondary Education by the U.S. Dept. of Education -- delivering a presentation on the impact of the Arts in Education.

Bell has played a vital role in pioneering the Visual Journaling movement, giving presentations and workshops at the local, state and national level. Bell also donates his time and art to numerous charity benefits to help raise awareness and thousands of dollars from his painting sales. On October 1, 2005, Michael Bell received the Good Shepherd Community Service Award at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles for his domestic violence activism.

Bell continues to make numerous appearances with his famous clientele, most recently at a star-studded 2008 Red Carpet Portrait unveiling with ___The Sopranos___ Frank Vincent, Dominic Chinese and Joe Gannascoli at the Stars & Cigars Gala at the Vanderbilt on Staten Island, NY. On April 18, 2008 Bell also launched his famous TICKET TO RIDE Painting Series at a launch party thrown for him at ___The Plumm___ in New York City by club owner Noel Ashman, debuting the first three paintings at $50,000 per painting.
