Matthew Hamblen About

I've been selling my art online since 1999 and have sold many hundreds of pieces to happy customers around the globe. Please purchase with the utmost confidence. Pieces arrive varnished, signed on the back, with sides painted black, pre-wired and ready to hang as is, or many have elected to frame my work. Personally, I like the look of "floating frames" for stretched canvases and have several of these around my home. They simply nest the painting into a nice, neat solid wood frame, and although economical, they have a very high-end appearance. You may find floating frames by searching on Google. Add Comment

I'm a lifelong artist, and a huge fan of just about every style of art (and many of music) that exist.

I've tried my hand at many painting styles and I still enjoy tinkering with different elements every chance I get, while also maintaining a repertoire of pieces I know people enjoy and look for from me.

My father (Robert Hamblen of Vermont) is also a fine artist, as was my Grandmother, and so on. Not only did I grow up traveling to art shows every season with my father's business, but to my knowledge, the artistic lineage in my family goes back at least as far as Sturtevant Hamblin (1817-1884) who founded the Prior-Hamblin school back in the 1830's in Boston. Painting is in my blood, so it's only natural that I carry on with our family tradition.

My overall body of work is a continuous process. It is simply one person's journey that happens to be documented in paintings. Painting is just who I am, and is almost as much a part of me as breathing now.

I enjoy being an "outsider" artist as what I do is purely from love.

I hope you have a great day, and THANK YOU for taking this time to get to know me!
