I love "The Right Spot." The cat look so very comfortable and content--and very catlike in his belief that of course the spot is his.

Mary,

Thanks for the observations about art and mental illness. Your ideas stimulated much thought, but more than that, they elicited art (see August 1's contribution in the Portrait gallery), which was the best of all possible outcomes.

Loving medieval church art and manuscript illunimations as I do, I particularly resonate to your "Into Your Dark." While I loved all your colorful and delicate art, this piece struck me as the most interesting and mysterious, the one I most wanted to really see up close.

I hope you continue to contribute to ARTID. I will return to your galleries again and again, just to see what you have in store.

Thanks again,

PW

Hi Mary: Wow also, You have vary inspiring art work. I guess I like your two top gallery pages the most.
It's the colors you used.
Thank you for the Wow for "Storm Over Benicia" When I couldn'd get the watercolor transparent enough I used the watercolor paint like oils. The shading was sprayed on with a Windex bottle. Thanks again, Mark from Calif.

I like the colors and harmony you create in your thread and paper works. Especially the Curve Of The Earth, it has a nice blue tone and the yellow stripes fit in well.

Hi Mary,

I was just drawn into your gallery by your "The Veil Between" piece and I really admire your work, especially the Paper & Thread artwork. Here are some words that came to mind when I looked at "Whispering Leaves": intelligence, order, intention, poetry, skill, love, obsession. Thank you for your lovely and wonderfully careful work.

Hi Mary,

Just signing in to say , you have quite a repertoire.
I do also, this way I always have something to work on.

I call it my crop rotation.

Your work is solid, the paintings are very minimal and
good to look, I do like your other work also.

Keep on, ART ON!!!!

Hi Mary,
Thank you so much for the compliments. Your work is very nice. I am particularly fond of "Kate's Folly." I love textile techniques and the application of them to paper emphasizes every stitch. Your attention to detail and your techniques have melded to create wonderful pieces. Will you be posting any more soon?

Hi, Mary, I love your "Moon Rise." Is there a way to leave a comment for each painting, like in other art websites? BTW, if you like space art, come join us at http://spaceart.ning.com, where you can post even your music, if you make or like any. Godspeed!

Hi Mary,
Thank you for your comment. I think we've probably crossed paths as well. Your work is wonderful and you seem to have made a home here.
I will definitely put some calligraphy work up soon. I'm just getting my legs around all this posting stuff and unlike you have not found my home yet. I'm working on it.
Let's keep in touch and once I do post I'd love to hear what you think.
Hugs,
Renee

Hi Mary- Your "Kate's Folly" caught my eye on the home page. I love the black and white checked gingham cloth and how it grabs the picture plane and sets it up for all the other elements in the work. Thanks- Zander

How lovely! And the cake you made out of paper so closely resembles my actual wedding cake I am amazed! You mention Canson for the cake - will this be featured on their website? Where else can your wedding invitations and shoes be seen? If you have not yet been on "Martha" you should be!

Mary,
Your work is simply sumptuous! You have brought everything from your life into each piece at it's moment of creating. When people ask me how long it has taken me to learn how to throw a pot on the wheel I tell them a life time and that each pot is a culmination of all my experiences at that moment. I see that clearly in your work. Especially as a metaphor with all the layers and depth in each piece, seen and unseen.

You know, we've been neighbors now for close to 8 years and besides the collage we've got on our kitchen wall, I haven't seen much of your other works until now. WOW! Not that I'm surprised (knew you were very talented), but I'm surprised!!! Oh, and now Lisa's giving me the "yeah, I saw that already, where have you been?" speech...So now I expect to see more next time I'm over!

Wonderful pretty much sums it up for me. I have actually seen some of Mary's work and she is a talented person with passion for what she does. An artist myself, I cannot attest to being a calligrapher and I am in awe of her lettering capabilities. We have talked of a joing venture and I hope we can bring that to fruition in 2007!

CONGRTULATIONS, Mary, I love it all!
