Commissions Through ArtId

I thought everyone should get a little good news. Sandy DiCristofaro received a commission last week from someone who saw her work on her ArtId site. A few days later, I got a calligraphy job from someone who found my ArtId site in a Google search for calligraphers. Leaving links, blogging, and social media really does pay off.

Hi Mary,
First, I'm glad to hear the ArtID business model is working, and that someone actually got a commission through their posting on ARTID.
Second, I'm an aspiring artist/illustrator interested in commercially producing and licensing my artwork. My thoughts are to start with greeting cards themed towards boys and men, which is a subject-area I'm comfortable doing, and are things I've done hundreds of times previously for family and friends.
I see you're part of the maangement team at ArtID, and I'm hoping you may be able to guide me in the right direction towards getting my art career started? I have a couple of questions:
1. Do you think greeting cards are a good way to start?
2. Assuming they are, I want to design the cards (and I'm happy to self-promote & sell them as much as possible); but I don't want to physically create them, inventory them, box & ship them, collect payment for them, etc. Is there a company that you know of that may do this for me?
3. Are there any art licensing companies you can recommend that may be able to help me with this?
Thank you for any help you can give me!
