Prior to painting this piece I had been out in the woods looking for subjects to paint. At a later time I tried my hand at painting on a different surface, that of rice paper glued to watercolor paper. It began with the idea of a woodsy scene similar to what I had seen when out walking at various times. It's kind of a first for me the way it took off. I started painting on the left side, and it just seemed to evolve from me as bits and pieces of memory helped to build upon it.
"Autumn Fading" is painted on rice paper, as in some of the other works I have done. There are delicate nuances in the colors painted over the acylic brush marks that makes this piece very lovely.
