Description: This mezzotint print represents the mythical Flying Dutchman, the ghost ship that sailors told was seen sailing the seas without a living soul on board. The mezzotint technique was used to represent the haunting image of the ghost ship appearing out of the pitch black night; the texture of the wooden planks seem to shift to fabric-like, before dissolving into foamy water.
