Lynne Hurd Bryant About

Color is my greatest fascination in life, and consequently in my artwork. I work in watercolor because it is both transparent and vibrant. Every layer of pigment produces exponential variation and nuance of color. I seek to paint shapes with value and use line only as a decorative element, giving my work a soft, representational quality. I want my work to evoke feelings of pleasure and peace with its vivid coloration and simplicity. 23 comments

Lynne Hurd Bryant

Lynne Hurd Bryant is an artist in love with the colors of the natural world. She paints landscapes, still life work and most importantly, elegant, richly colored florals. She works in oils, acrylics and watercolors, and is equally adept with all of them. This is unusual for many artists who use only one or two types of media, but Lynne chooses her medium based on the demands of the subject matter.

Lynne grew up in Kansas City, Kansas and was taught to paint from an early age by her grandmother, the artist Ada Hurd Bryant. She moved to Denver and continued her art education at Loretto Heights University Without Walls, which allowed her to choose working artists in the community as her instructors. She went on to earn a B.F.A. in Design and Fine Arts. After taking many years away from her art to raise a large family, she went back to her artwork in early 2009.

Today, Lynne would be best described as an emerging artist. Her work is available at Art on Mountain Gallery in Fort Collins, Colorado as well as on her website.
