Laurie Black About
I classified myself as a Mixed Media Artist because I specialize in Watercolor Painting, Textile or Fiber Art, Stained Glass and drawing.
I have been an artist ever since I can remember (at least since 2nd grade), but received formal education in Interior Design and Decorative Arts at ASU from 1983-1987, where I became very intrigued and fascinated with Fiber Art.
Then from 1994-1997, I completed my Master of Arts Degree (also at ASU) in Art Education so I could teach both studio art and art history classes. Early in my graduate program, I took a Watercolor Studio class (for the first time) and fell in love with this flexible and vibrant medium.
Since then, I have been entering national exhibitions, showing different forms of art in galleries, displaying different works on different Web sites, and teaching both Studio Art (Watercolor Painting, Drawing / Sketching) and Art History Classes to all different age levels.
In addition, I try to expand on my art skills and techniques for both professional and personal persuits.
