kathi scarminach About

"and the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom" anais nin painting, collage, printmaking, assemblage, ceramics, drawing, visual journaling-my creative spirit cannot seem to settle on just one medium. by nature i am restless, curious, and yearn for adventures that resonate with my intrepid heart. my work primarily represents the hero's journey as told by a woman walking a path of self-discovery seeking inspiration. i believe creativity is a birthright, and that everyone is an artist. travelling, playing with language and culture, spontaneity, mountain hikes, risk taking, authentic relationships, and being in the presence of teens and young adults documenting their life through art is what feeds my passionate, insatiable soul. i am a relentless life long beginner; therefore, learning new things is a daily constant. i encourage all to see, feel, hear, speak, think and intuit in collaboration their artist muse. we all have one. love, art, generosity, joy and connection with others is all there is. artists whom are most influential in my work are: robert rauschenberg, jasper johns, alice neel, marcelino jimenez, elizabeth de kooning, marge dunlap, frida kahlo, and richard diebenkorn Add Comment
