Jose Acosta is very happy to be exhibiting at VARGA Gallery as we celebrate the 7 year anniversary of this fantastic gallery that means so much to us. Christina Varga I wish VARGA gallery many more years of success and thank you for all the opportunities you provide for artists.
June 1, 2010 marks the 7 year anniversary of VARGA Gallery - the Hudson Valley's most eclectic art gallery and collective showcasing self-taught, outsider and visionary artists. A photographic slide show of highlights from seven years of innovative art happenings, parties, concerts and events at VARGA Gallery highlights the art exhibition which presents art works by current members of the Visionary Art Collective as well as artists from the past 7 years. The June VAC Showcase opens Saturday, June 12 from 6 - 8pm and closes July 4, 2010.
VARGA Gallery's history includes the Tattoo & Body Art Festivals, GRAFITTI 1 & 2, "My Heart Belongs to Dada", "Politikai", The Muddy Cup Solo Series, The East Village / Lower East Side show, seven annual February Women's Shows, "Stick, Stone & Bone" and many, many other exceptional exhibitions of contemporary, cutting-edge, self-taught, outsider and visionary artists all curated by Christina Varga. Artists that have exhibited in the gallery include Kenichi Hiratsuka, Robert Craig, Ron English, Mark Kostabi, Phoebe Legere, Walter Robinson, Laura Levine, and regional celebrity artists as well as up and coming creatives such as Scott Ackerman, Ryan Cormier, Cristine Cambrea, and Jose Acosta. The VARGA Gallery expanded in November 2008 doubling the size of the gallery exhibition space as well as adding artist studios, an outdoor courtyard, gardens and an upstairs lounge for members of new Visionary Art Collective.
The Visionary Art Collective is pleased to welcome artist Nancy Catandella who brings her talents as a teacher and instructor to the collective and will be offering art classes for children of all ages. The Visionary Art Collective supports and encourages artists to socialize, discuss, produce and exhibit new work to develop artistic expression that moves and reshapes established boundaries.
