Riverwinds gallery at 172 Main Street in Beacon is delighted to welcome Jose Acosta to our gallery in Beacon. His paintings of bright colors, swirling figures, and vibrant energy warm your heart and put a smile on your face. The opening reception for the show is February 13, 2010, (2nd Saturday) 5 - 8 pm. The show will run through March 7, 2010.
Born in Cuba, he immigrated to the U.S. with his family when he was 3 years old. He is a Cuban/American and very proud of his Cuban Heritage as well as his American citizenship. His paintings depict his personal history and surroundings. He paints from the heart, expressing a little hope and happiness in all of his creations. He also paints the struggles of fellow humans as they strive for their dreams, the things that some of us take so lightly yet so many in this world do not have. Jose is a romantic at heart and envisions a future world where we will all live in peace and plenty.
Acosta's works of paintings and sculpture are in more than 200 private and public collections. Most recently his works were added to the collection of the World Bank Art Program in Washington D.C., United Cerebral Palsy, Healthy Families, Touro College and the University of Pennsylvania Art Collection.
