Artist Jim Allen, a contemporary realist with a view on the spiritual, historical, and mythological; and a leaning toward the abstract...
"The inspiration for my work comes from within me and my life's experiences. It is both personal and humanistic, and encompasses the confrontations of everyday living."
Jim, also an avid art collector, has been exhibiting his work since 1997. Jim has been mentored by such well-known artists as Pheoris West, Benny Andrews, Sandra Saitto, and Frank Federico.
"My paintings are created through a process of discovery...I let them happen on their own and then I go into them. They emerge without my overworking the "thinking time", which would only inhibit the discovery process. I am never in full control of my work...it is a "happening that produces visual symbols from spiritual forces around me."
