Jerry Wilson About
Jerry Wilson is a self-taught sculptor working primarily in stone. His work is strongly influenced by the "primitive style" of aboriginal peoples, especially the Inuits and Iroquois of Canada. From them he learned to "listen to the stone, it will tell you what's inside." Ergo, he works primarily in stone, utilizing the "direct carving" technique.
Jerry has won several honors for his work, including the prestigious Robert L. Bertolli Award for Traditional Scultpure at the Academic Artist's Association National Exhibit in 2000.
Jerry and his wife Roberta, who is also an artist, share a studio at the historic Indian Orchard Mills, which has over 35 fine artists including painters, sculptors, stained glass artists , potters and printers. Jerry is a member of the Academic Artists Association.
