Jean Klutz About

I have been painting for about five years now. I had no formal training except for a couple of classes at a local community college. I just started out painting and decided that they weren't too bad and I really enjoyed painting and the rewards that it brought to me as an individual. I lacked confidence in myself and painting has really helped me in overcoming those obstacles. So far my work has been for my own pleasure but I have decided that others need to see and enjoy them as well. Add Comment

I was born in Johnson City, TN, in 1946. I moved to Morganton, NC at the age of 6 and grew up in NC. I was married in 1965 and had six children in about a 5 year span (no twins). I finally returned to college to be a legal secretary. After about 20 years, I changed to other types of secretarial work, but not once did I think I could draw or paint. One day, out boredom, I starting painting a cat I found in a magazine. My first painting was on a piece of cardboard, but I still cherish that painting. It will always be my favorite!!!

I have progressed a lot since that first painting and I have enjoyed every moment of it. I paint with acrylics, but plan to learn water color. Most of my work has been landscapes and different types of animals. I love elephants and sometimes I just paint elephants!! I also enjoy doing the abstracts- using only my hands for brushes. Hopefully, you will find something interesting in my type of work and it will bring you as much pleasure as it does me.
