Harley Stripes in Black

Original abstract done in India ink from the decorative stripes on the Harley Bikes. Using three different designs from the bike, I created my own interpertation in the painting. This is one of a series I will be doing with the beautiful stripes and airbrushings on the Harley Davidsons. I will do some of these adding watercolor, along with the inks. Mercer Memorial

This painting came from the old beautiful Bonaventure Cemetary in Savannah, GA., which dates back to the early 18th century. The memorial is of the famous Johnny Mercer and his family. I painted this on Masa paper which gives the texture of oriental rice paper. The Roman arches and graceful columns gives the picture a peaceful aura…

Sea Treasures

I just finished setting up my Small Works Gallery and one of the pair's that I up loaded is a set of unusual sea shells painted on clabber board with watercolor. It is another different surface for this medium. At first it is bit of a challnge to make your watercolors show as they do on paper but in the end the results are very interesting. I have only done a few painting on this but plan to do more. The advantage of this method is no glass is need to protect the painting because the finished painting is sprayed with a glaze that does the same as glass…

Morning Song

This painting is done on Masa paper which I use quite often. The paper itself is somewhat thin and has two sides. Paper is waded up and submurged in water. Then you unwrap it. I do three different colored washes in well places area's on the wrinkled paper. It is then glued onto acid free matte board and with a brayer slowly smoothed onto matte board. I let it dry, weighted down so as not to bend. After it is dried the picture is applied and then painted. The texture on the painting is very unusual and attractive…
