Imbern Ricardo About
Born in 1976 in Madrid, Imbern got his degree on Arts and Technologies Applied to Communication at Tracor Art School University, where -due to his path- he was awarded with an Honourable Scholarship to study a Master in Marketing and Multimedia Communication (MMCM) at the Business School IEDE. During the last degree course, he was also nominated by the direction of the centre to study a Master in Fine Arts held in the own centre.
Once his studies were finished and after having specialized in on-line design, he starts up his labour-life working for important wide-known advertising agencies, such as eOne EURO RSCG 4D and Ogilvy Interactive. He has taken on positions of Manager and Director of Art, and he has been awarded with several prizes and honourable mentions working for brands of wide renown.
Following his natural instinct, in October 2006 quit his prosperous career in the professional design world in order to channel his creativity through the painting, having devoted since then to it. Up to now, he has shown his works in art fairs and participated in several individual, as well as, collective exhibitions.
His unmistakable style set him in a more than interesting pictorial bet, since in his technique converge a strong fauvist chromatism and a figurative expressionism, all surrounded by a surrealistic atmosphere. His works invite the spectator to get in a fantasy world, characterized for the lack of rules regarding shape, light, perspective and colour, where everything is possible.
The themes used are based on passages of experiences lived knowing different cultures with particular interest in portraits, where he reaches an undeniable psychological depth. The strong symbolism that covers his whole work interweaves, currently, with two creative lines: the encounter between image and thought, where the thoughts of the main character are written on the picture; and what he has own called "the surrealistic and fantastic series", as a result of the more private side of the artist.
His art (suggestive, lively, fresh, symbolic) and his images (not conventional at all and far away from the reality) look for an impact, because Imbern is, above all, a seducer and pursues to "swindle" the spectator through his painting.
