CONGRESSWOMAN ROSA L.DELAURO CELEBRATES NATIONAL HISPANIC HERITAGE MONTH WITH LATINO ART EXHIBITION New Haven, CT__" From September 15 through October 14, 2011, Congresswoman Rosa L. DeLauro (CT-3) will sponsor a Latino Art Exhibit in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month. Hosted by the Spanish Community of Wallingford (SCOW), the exhibit will feature original works of art from 12 Hispanic artists from around Connecticut.

Rosa E. Colon, Nydia Ferrer Dominguez, Heriberto A. Hernandez, Karen Jaime, Felix Felo Lugo, J. Andrew Murdoch, Yolanda Vasquez Petrocelli, Yasmin Rancourt, Hernan Restrepo, Leonora Cajigas Rodriguez, Alejandro Rojas, Rosalba Saenz Lugo.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated each year from September 15 to October 15 to recognize the histories, cultures, and contributions of Americans whose ancestors came from Spain, Mexico, the Caribbean and Central and South America. Also according to the U.S. Census in 2010, the Hispanic/Latino population makes up 15 percent of the population of New Haven County. ___I am very pleased to celebrate our first Latino Art Exhibit, held in honor of National Hispanic Heritage Month. This is a month dedicated to recognizing the cultures and histories, as well as the immense contributions to American society, of our Hispanic population,___ said Congresswoman DeLauro. ___These extraordinary works of art are a fitting tribute to the diverse Hispanic cultures thriving here in Connecticut and around the country.___
