Why do we create art?
To the right Painting of ___Mask We Wear___
What do I want my art to say? What do I wish to accomplish with my art? Why do I create art? I do not know the answers and I do not even care. I do not know why I create art. I just know that it is something that I do. It is something that I have a need to do, but I also enjoy it very much. It is a feeling of escaping into my own world where I can create what I wish and no rules apply. Time is suspended and I can go back to my childhood or into the future within a click of a thought. I am totally free to do what I want and it is such a great feeling. I love mixing the mediums such as crushed glass, paint pigments etc___ I love to hear music when I create but at some point the music ends and I am so caught up in my painting that I do not even notice that the music has stopped and the hours have gone by so fast. Wow it is already 2 a.m. yes I am still painting. That is a rush and a natural high that nothing can replace. I guess I love the feeling of being free to create whatever I wish. For me creating art is like playing it is something that I enjoy so much I never want it to stop. Buzz the alarm clock rings and back to reality, off to work to make a living and support my family. One day I will know what it is like to be a full time artist, maybe not, why? Because I like the freedom of not having to worry if my art will sell. Knowing that I can create whatever I wish. It is a great feeling to know that my full time job covers all my bills and allows my family to live comfortably. It also allows me to have art supplies in my studio and my mind worry free and able to create. Freedom, I will never be totally free as responsibilities, commitments etc___ always get in the way. Still if the financial picture looks good it is such a great feeling. I look forward to the future and to all the great art I hope to create, the great people I continue to meet along the way and the inspirations that hit me once in a while.
