Congratulations to Euterpe Magazine and Hernando Merchand on the 40th Anniversary Awards Celebration. Award recognitions given to 30 people who have helped and continue to help Euterpe Magazine with its goal of creating Hispanic-American cultural events including performing arts, poetry and art exhibitions.

Hernando Merchand created Euterpe Magazine for the Performing Arts, Inc. 40 years ago in 1970. Euterpe magazine - production promotes Hispanic-American culture in all the arts. The 1st concert was at Carnegie Recital hall on May 3, 1970 with the legendary Puerto Rican pianist Genoveva de Artega. In that year they also started a series of 40 concerts at CAMI HALL. In the next forty years Euterpe Productions would have presentations on classical and folkloric music in such places as Carnegie Recital Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Town Hall, Florence Gould Hall, and in Universities such as Columbia, New York, Montclair State, Hostos and Bronx Community Colleges, Touro College and Boricua College. In addition Euterpe has had events in many churches, parks, libraries, schools and museums including the world famous Intrepid Museum.

Maria Merchand, Maria Esther Merchand, Isabel Patricia Merchand, Millie Colon, Angie Filomeno, Anna Alvarez, Stephanie Garay, Rina Soldevilla, Margie Soto, Irma Aguilera, Abraham Lind Oquendo, Felipe Morales, Carlos Velasquez, Carlos Recio, Julio Nunez, Hector Ramos, Fernando Campos, Arnaldo Rodriguez, Rafael Castelar, Angel Feliciano, Dr. Jaime Buenahora, Joaquin del Rio, Luis Martinez, Ormandy Monteverde, Quilvio Fernandez, Jose Acosta, Elelis Pena, Saul Merchan Devia, Arturo Alvarez, Edwin Vasquez.
Award Recognitions were presented at the Centro Cultural Colombiano at 9716 Northern Boulevard in Queens, NY. A special plaque was presented to Hernando Merchand from the Hispanic Cultural Community for his dedication and work during the past 40 Years. It was a great honor for me to have been recognized by Euterpe along with all these celebrities and pillars of the community. I enjoyed meeting new friends and getting reacquainted with old ones. Congratulations to my friend Hernando Merchand on his dedication and labor on behalf of all Hispanic-American artists.
