Mark Schwartz About

Mark Schwartz made a name for himself as an accomplished shoe designer. For the past 25 years, he has traveled the world gaining inspiration for his ideas from artists like Andy Warhol, who Schwartz beneficially watched at work and Roger Vivier who he cultivated his talents with for 5 years. Both Warhol and Vivier encouraged Schwartz to continue his capricious approach to fabricate his artistic style of shoes. He is producing exciting work by taking advantage of the spontaneity and movement that shoes can create when drawn on paper. Very few artists have attempted what Schwartz is pioneering. Mark exaggerates the usual way individuals view shoes by playing off the already artistic shapes of footwear and creates art that exudes personality. The artist__™s work is collected worldwide by both private and corporate clients. Add Comment

I have been designing shoes in Italy for my entire career and i have had the good fortune to work with some of the most recognized names in our industry.

In 1985 while working with Roger Vivier i met Andy Warhol and to make a long story short, it was Warhol who encouraged me to pursue my paintings of shoes as you view them today.

My work is a part of who i am and is a part of my love for shoes and for the life and joy that they bring to so many people around the world.

I am often asked the question, what brings me more satisfaction to design a shoe or to paint a shoe and capture it in a painting?

I love both but i must say that painting a shoe as art, taking a sketch or scribble of an idea and making it into a painting that hangs in someone's home, office or store gives me an exceptional feeling of personal joy and happiness.

I hope you enjoy the vision and expression that i put down on paper, please feel free to email me and share your thoughts at any time, i look forward to hearing from you.
