Barbara Anthony Grondal About
Barbara Anthony Grondal is a self-taught artist who enjoys using her art to tell everyday stories of ordinary life often overlooked in our frenzied, race-pulsed world. She strives to capture images that are deeply personal and intimate: from the experience reflected in an old man__™s leathery complexion to the fusion of joy and delight expressed in a young baby__™s smile living half a world away.
Grondal is mindful of the great opportunity to communicate through her art. She strives to evoke a transformation of perspective using color, light and subject matter as her tools. ___It is an opportunity to move people emotionally__"to help them see and feel on a different level,___ says Grondal. ___I find this both compelling and challenging__"it is what inspires me to paint.___
Grondal__™s interest in art became a full-time vocation when chronic illness required her to retire from a business career and turn her energy in a new direction. This abrupt transition was a blessing which enabled her to embrace her passion for drawing and painting full-time. ___I feel very fortunate to make my passion for creating art my life__™s work.___
Grondal__™s work was accepted into juried shows early on. She employs a variety of mediums including graphite, charcoal, colored pencil, acrylic, and pastel. She hopes her work inspires others: ___I want my work to pause and change their point of view. Turn how they see ordinary, everyday things upside-down . ___
Grondal is a life-long resident of the Northwest. She is often found standing behind her easel at her home studio in Everett, Washington where she resides with her long-time canine companion. When she is not painting, Grondal enjoys visiting international destinations to experience new sights and cultures. These journeys provide limitless inspiration for her art.
