Gerardo Latino About
Gerardo Latino was born and raised in Managua D.N.,Nicaragua.
My mother realized at a tender age that I had a gift, a love for the arts, getting straight A's in art from my early years in elememtary school till my final years at the university.
I began doing art work for older students in middle school so that I could pay for art classes at a private art institution, but due to my poverty the pay was not sufficient. So every afternoon I dedicate myself to visiting the school's library. While at the library, I studied and began teaching myself with paintings and sculptures by Michelangelo and Leonardo Da Vinci, for Whom I admired for their tenacious art work.
From 1994 to 1999, I began doing drawings for Pablo Picasso's daughter, Miss Paloma Picasso and her handbags catalogs. In May 2008,I had my first exibition with other young fellow Latin American Artists in the city of Hackensack, NJ. The exibition was directed by Miss Sara Colombino, who is the President of ICAL ( Latino Leadership Alliance of New Jersey ).
I love to work with a Watercolor Cold Press Block, this Heavy weight paper has a professional grade, cold press surface which is ideal not only for mastering watercolor techniques but also creating beautiful 3-D Sculpture Figures.
I'm currently working as a freelance paper sculptor and continue to create and develop new techniques also representing a Public Relations Dept. for ICAL
