Ellen Sullivan Farley Art Blog
This is a winter night. The full moon is out over the tower of the college across the street from my home. I have seen it a million times and never captured it but I finally did. The tree is a tulip tree which was recently cut down and now the only memory of it is this painting. Glad I painted it when I did.
I am pleased with the composition (which is a bit unsettling) because I like the gesture of the tree branches reaching for the moon. Also, the tower is askew and creates sort of a gothic feel to it.
