"Moody Bridge Road, Amherst" has been the luckiest painting for me so far. It has made it into 2 fine competitions so far, Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club and Faber Birren Color Awards show. I suppose it will be retired soon as it is three years old but it seems to break boundries for me. Landscape painting was not always an interest for me but I took a landscape painting workshop in Italy in 2005 and it really changed my feelings about it. Strangely enough, this is the type of painting that is getting me into competitions I have submitted to before and was not so fortunate. So, I guess I will be painting landscapes for a while. It is a really wonderful experience doing so.

Ellen, It's no wonder that painting has done well by you. It captures a mood, time of day, season, even a temperature. I have the advantage of driving Moody Bridge road often so I can relate to how you captured the feel perfectly. This painting is universal in it's appeal because it reminds everyone of somewhere with which they are familiar. Don't retire it, just make more.
