we enjoyed our first midwest salute to the arts last weekend in fairview heights, il...peggy was the winner of an award of excellence...it meant a little bit extra to us this time around as peggy has recently switched over to non representational abstract work so this positive affirmation was very welcome. we thank the jurors for "thinking outside the lines" with us. this weekend we will be west of the mississippi river in st louis, mo at the queeny park art fair. this is a three day event beginning this friday, sept 2...and the weather will be perfect. I can say this because this art fair takes place indoors in air conditioned comfort. we invite you to spend part of your labor day weekend with us at the queeny park art fair. please call or email if you need any more info… Continue reading… 1 comment

the rain tried to cause problems for the show last weekend in geneva, il...but the worst of the weather either passed us by or happened just early enough in the day so that it was out of way by the show opening at 10am each day. thankfully...after a really good sunday we had a successful show for our first in geneva...we want to compliment show promoter erin melloy and the geneva chamber of commerce for a very well run art fair...we certainly hope to return in years to come. next up for us is the art in the park art fair in appleton, wi...which is now more of an "art around the park" as all the artist booths are set up on the streets surrounding the park...making it much more enjoyable for patrons and artists alike. the extended forecast is for warm and dry weather..… Continue reading… 0 comments

that was a rainy week...to say the least. here's hoping all made it through with a minimum of damage. looks like the worst has passed for now and sunday looks like it will begin a few days of dry and comfortable summer weather. that's great news because we will be in appleton on sunday the 25th for "art in the park" which actually this year is going to be "art around the park" as the actual park is under water from the rains and the artists will be setting up in the streets surrounding the old show site. the attached pic is of three very old boathouses on rock lake in lake mills...they are called the cedars and peggy did a painting of them for a ceramic tile reproduction that is part of her "scenic lake mills" series… Continue reading… 1 comment

this is our weekend at home...as the lake mills art festival takes place in downtown lake mills approx 1/2 block away from our home/studio. we host guy and kathy schmitz and bonnie and ron elvidge...friends who are in town to display at the art fair as well...we always have fun when these folks are in town...and look forward to their visit. this one day art fair takes place on saturday in commons park and the weather forecast is for sunny skies and warm temps...but the showsite in the park is very well shaded by mature trees...so it should be quite comfortable for all. attached is a painting of the "legion hamburger stand" a local landmark in downtown lake mills where they sell very popular burgers every friday thru the summer months… Continue reading… 1 comment

this weekend we will be in des moines, ia...at the state fairgrounds for the "other" art festival. its a big weekend in des moines as the downtown art fest is going on as well. there is a shuttle bus that runs back and forth between the shows so we hope folks will take advantage of that and visit both of these fine art fairs. the nice thing about our show is that it is held indoors. and on a weekend when the temps will be in the 90's and humid...it will feel pretty comfortable inside our air conditioned exhibition hall. I've attached another new painting that peggy has finished up this week and we will have it on disply in des moines this weekend. thats all for now...we hope to see you in iowa this weekend. thanks for reading… Continue reading… 0 comments

we are in minnesota this weekend at the stone arch art festival...we hope you can come out on a sunny sunday to downtown minneapolis to view some art and listen to some music and enjoy a beautiful day. its a neat site for an art fair on the oldest street in minneapolis with a great view of the mississippi river with the skyline behind. look for us in booth space #98. I've attached a pic of a new piece we have in our booth this weekend. a big thank you to peggys cousin lisa and dennis who hosted us last night for dinner in st paul...and after that they introduced us to izzy's ice cream parlor where we enjoyed some salted caramel ice cream...which was excellent! we would recommend izzy's when you visit st paul. next weekend we will be in des moines, ia for "the other" art festival..… Continue reading… 0 comments

we are leaving today for indianapolis and the talbot street art festival this weekend. its been two weeks since my last post and in that time peggy has been busy painting and has come up with some great new pieces...one I've included here...and we will have them all on display in our booth. we've also done a little reworking of our display and we are anxious to see how it looks when its all set up. the weather forecast is iffy...but we are keeping our fingers crossed for any rain showers to be light and short-lived...and for the fine folks of indianapolis to come out and enjoy the artwork and the neat old neighborhood where the show is held. next week we will be in another great old neighborhood up in minneapolis..… Continue reading… 1 comment

this weekend we will be in st charles for the annual downtown art festival. we have booth number 312 and the forecast is for perfect art festival weather...so we hope to see you this weekend. last weekend we had a great time in dubuque, ia. peggy won one of the three awards that were handed out at dubuquefest 2010...and combined with the great weather and good music it all made for a fun weekend. thats it for this week..… Continue reading… 1 comment

we are in dubuque, ia this weekend for dubuquefest...its our first time here and it looks as if the weather will cooperate with warm temps and sunshine predicted for the entire weekend. that would be the opposite of last weekend in springfield, il where despite a good forecast we had light rain and cool temps almost all weekend long. but while the weather was less than great the show itself was well attended and we had a good show. we want to thank everyone for their kind patronage...and for coming out to support the artists in less than ideal weather...it is greatly appreciated. and then to top off the weekend peggy won an award for best in show-watercolors...which is a nice reward...peggy works very hard and its nice when she gets some recognition… Continue reading… 0 comments

we are back in the midwest for the summer and first up on our schedule is springfield illinois and the old capitol art fair. the weather has been less than ideal since we got home last week but the forecast for the weekend festivities looks good...dry, sunny with temps right around 70. that sounds great to us and we hope to see big crowds in downtown springfield to enjoy the artwork and the spring weather. we have two more shows coming up in may...next weekend we will be in dubuque, ia for dubuquefest...and then on the final weekend in may we will be in st charles, il for the art fair there. I have posted our complete summer schedule here in the "About" section...just click on "About" located above and then scroll down to the bottom to check it out… Continue reading… 0 comments

we will soon be on our way back north to wisconsin for the summer art fair season. just wanted to thank everyone who visited us at one of our art fairs in florida this season...and for your kind patronage. I've attached a watercolor of two empty beach chairs that peggy has been working on as a commission for pam...but in a way it symbolizes peggy and I being away from the sunshine state for the next six months...so please keep our seats warm at the beach. we certainly hope for the best with regard to the gulf oil spill...and while things don't look good as of this writing...we certainly hope the folks in charge can come up with some answers and get this potential disaster under control in a timely manner. check back here next week for our spring and summer midwest schedule..… Continue reading… 0 comments

after ten in a row... probably perfect timing for us as both of us have come down with some kind of head chest cold combo package that has just kicked our butts. mine more than peggy's as she seems much tougher than me and has been working pretty much right straight through it all...on pieces for next weekends art festival in cedar key. cedar key is one of the last unspoiled places left in florida...we are looking forward to a fun weekend. our booth number is 120 and we are happy to be on an end spot so peggy will have room to demonstrate her painting technique. we hope you can come out to the old florida celebration of art on historic cedar key...on april 24 & 25...call or email if you need any help finding cedar key… Continue reading… 0 comments

we are off to "gator country" for the 41st annual santa fe college spring art festival in gainesville being held this weekend. the weather forecast looks to be sunny and dry so we are looking forward to big crowds in downtown gainesville for this community event. we have booth number 229. this show will be our tenth in a row and our second to last show in florida before we head back north to wisconsin and our midwest schedule of art festivals for the spring and summer. we never got a call from winter park where we were on the waiting list for the WP sidewalk art fair...so we headed for the artsfest show in stuart last weekend. I'm happy to report that we were very impressed with stuart and with the art fair. the organizers are doing a lot of things right...and the crowds who attended the fair all weekend are a testement to that. we think this show has a bright future. we have two patrons to mention and pass along a big thank you to for their support...first to jerilyn b. who got the show off to a great start...when early on saturday she purchased several pieces for use in her homes in florida and pennsylvania...and secondly to dennis b who purchased a large piece on sunday for his new home in florida… Continue reading… 1 comment

this weekend we are heading over to the east coast of florida for the 3 day "under the oaks" art festival in vero beach. the show starts on friday and will run thru the weekend. while friday looks a little iffy with possible rain...saturday and sunday look to be ideal for a visit to an art fair with sunshine and temps in the 70's. we've been a part of this show in the past and were impressed with the vero beach area. we are happy to be going back. attached is a new 12_12 painting we will have with us this weekend in vero. we hope to see you there... thanks for reading..… Continue reading… 0 comments

hi all... live from leesburg, fl...where it is sunny and cool...probably about 64 degrees and we are sitting on main street downtown and we have booth number 709. its 4pm and the crowd has thinned significantly. probably time to start hoping for a better day tomorrow. we did have one good sale today to mr & mrs gary c. from leesburg...they purchased a pair of sand hill crane paintings and we are very appreciative of their kind patronage. attached is a pic of one of the pair. on another positive note...peggy had two pieces selected for judging...which is always a nice compliment. she won a prize here last year...it would be very nice to do that again. we'll find out tonight at the award dinner...we'll keep our fingers crossed til then… Continue reading… 0 comments

that's where we will be this weekend. the festival takes place at the miromar shopping village located at the corkscrew road exit and just east of I-75. estero is located between fort myers and naples. the festival will be open between 10am and 5pm on both saturday and sunday...we will be in space #33...and peggy will be demonstrating her painting technique at our booth all weekend long. attached is a brand new 12_12 painting that we will have on display this weekend. we hope you all make plans to come to estero and take in the art festival this weekend... thanks for reading..… Continue reading… 0 comments

we are off to orlando this weekend for the downtown art and living expo...which takes place on the streets adjacent to lake eola in downtown orlando. its a beautiful setting for an art festival and they have some top notch music acts on tap for the weekend as well. we exhibited at this show last year and were impressed by the large crowds that turned out. this year we have a "chamber of commerce" weather forecast for the weekend so we hope to again see big crowds out to enjoy the festivities in beautiful downtown orlando. attached is a pic of a piece we will have on display this weekend... thanks for reading..… Continue reading… 0 comments

thanks to the folks who attended the mount dora art festival last weekend...and there were a lot of them. the weather was not as good as hoped for...it was cool and windy but the sun was out part of the time and it was dry. so all in all it was a successful weekend for us. we heard many positive comments about peggy's artwork over the weekend which is always appreciated. one patron in particular, ms. ginny stiles, included some very kind words in her art blog over the weekend...and we thank her for those...here is a link to her blog if you would like to pay her a virtual visit. http://ginnystiles.blogspot.com up next for us is a trip down to jupiter, florida on the east coast for the arti gras art fest held at the abacoa town center… Continue reading… 0 comments

we begin our stretch of ten art fair weekends in a row with a great festival in mount dora, florida. the artists line the streets of the downtown area and along with the music and food it has become one of the most popular events during the winter art season. this will be our second visit to this art festival and we enjoyed our time here last year so we are looking forward to the 2010 edition. the forecast is calling for sunny and cool weather and we hope to see big crowds out and about in mount dora. we used our two week break to paint the display walls of our art fair canopy and they will be making their debut in mt dora this weekend...our goal was to freshen up our display and to provide a more striking background for peggys artwork… Continue reading… 0 comments

our busy saturday has been cut in half...as this mornings art market in pass a grille has been canceled due to high winds. cool temps and cloudy skies helped to make the decision an easy one. hopefully next saturday the weather will cooperate and we will see you all "on the patio" in pass a grille. we are still planning on setting up this evening in gulfport for the art walk from 6-10...it might be a little chilly tonight so bundle up and come on out and have some fun in gulfport… Continue reading… 0 comments

its hard to believe that september is here already. we have the oak brook invitational fine art show this weekend at oak brook center in illinois. we always have a fun time when visiting the chicago area and look forward to this show every labor day weekend. since our last blog we have done two more weather plagued events...first was oconomowoc, wi...which was well attended on saturday...but sadly on sunday...with the weathermen predicting up to a 90% chance of heavy rain and storms during the day...the attendance was way down and of course other than clouds and some occasional light sprinkles it was a pretty nice day for an art fair...murphy's law strikes again...I guess. then we did artstreet up in green bay, wi..… Continue reading… 0 comments

last weekend was marked by a persistant weather system that seemed to have it in for the lake geneva fine art festival. it rained saturday morning from 7am til just before noon...making for a tough set-up. while many artists set up in the rain...some(us included)opted to wait it out and the show finally got going just after noon. the weather improved in the afternoon and a good crowd came out. sunday was almost the exact opposite...the day dawned sunny and warm but soon clouds rolled in and then just before 2pm the show directors came around closed the show and told the artists to breakdown right away as a line of pretty severe storms was bearing down on southeast wisconsin. we are thankful for their vigilance as we drove through some heavy rain and wind and lightning on our way home..… Continue reading… 1 comment

this weekend we will be in middleton, wi at greenway station, for their annual art fair. we did this show two years ago and enjoyed the location...middleton was recently noted as one of the top ten small cities in america...so hopefully the weather will cooperate and we'll have a good turnout. next weekend we will be down in lake geneva, wi for "art in the park"... thanks for reading..… Continue reading… 0 comments

the lake mills art fair weekend is history now...and a big thank you goes out to bonnie and ron and kathy and guy...who helped us pull off our annual double header...daytime art fair and evening house concert. the weather was a little cool and cloudy but everything went off without any major problems. attached is a pic of the band...(courtesy of guy s.)...and thanks to the "getaway drivers" for a great concert. we still have a few of their sampler cd's here if anyone is interested...let us know and we will arrange for you to get a copy. this sunday is the "art in the park" art fair in appleton. wi so we look forward to that...and we hope to see you there. thanks for reading..… Continue reading… 0 comments

the 30th anniversary "off the square" art fair in madison this past weekend was blessed with ideal weather and as a result an excellent turnout. we were happy to welcome two new peg-heads into the club...matt from madison and signe from verona both took home large pieces and we thank them and all the folks who came downtown for the art fairs. we realize that it can be a bit of an ordeal sometime what with finding and paying for parking and then a hike to the art fair and then walking around the crowded fair itself...so we really appreciate the effort folks put out in order to attend these events. this weekend we will really be "home" for an art fair as the lake mills art fair on saturday will take place approx 1/2 block from our front door here in LM… Continue reading… 0 comments

its been two weeks since our show in des moines...and it was a fun show to do...we were indoors so no weather worries and we enjoyed a fine weekend in the air conditioned comfort of the great indoors on the iowa state fairgrounds. thanks to everyone who came out to the show and to our new peg-heads for their kind patronage. this weekend we are oh so happy to have a "home game" of sorts with the 30th annual "off the square art fair" in madison wisconsin. the weather looks to be spectacular for the weekend...we are in booth space #16...and we hope to see many familiar faces coming out to enjoy both of the fine art fairs in going on in downtown madison. attached here is one of several brand new paintings that we will have on display this weekend. thanks for reading..… Continue reading… 0 comments

indianapolis and minneapolis...our previous two art fairs were talbot street in indy and stone arch in minneapolis. both events were blessed with pretty good weather and they both drew big crowds. after our "lost weekend" in edina...it was nice to actually have patrons filling the walkways in front of our booth for these past two events. stone arch seemed to have the bigger crowds but for us the show at talbot was one of our better shows of 2009. we had three additions to the "peg-heads" (patrons purchasing large original works) and we really appreciate their support...as well as the support of anyone who stopped by and bought some art or who simply wanted to chat about the art. thanks for coming out to the festival. this weekend we will be in des moines, iowa..… Continue reading… 1 comment

if you are ever at an art festival and you see a sign similar to the one shown here...please consider following the arrows and taking a look at the booths they direct you to. usually a sign like this means that the show organizers have stuck some artists in a spot that is not part of the natural traffic flow of the show and is usually not readily visible to the patrons attending the show. most of the time it is because the show is only interested in getting bigger and adding the revenue from the extra booth fees and not thinking about how these poorly placed booth spaces will adversely affect the artists who end up with them. well...we drew one of these spots this past weekend at the edina art fair near minneapolis, mn...and we can report that it makes for a long, tough weekend… Continue reading… 0 comments

despite a windy and chilly saturday the folks from springfield came out and supported the 35th annual "old capitol art fair"...thankfully sunday was a much better weather day but both days were well attended. one unique thing about this show is the childrens tent...participating artists at the show donate artwork which is then sold in the kids art tent for $4, $5, and $6 and its "kids only" in the tent...so they make their own purchases once inside. we think its a neat idea and gets kids interested in buying art. judging from the lines waiting to get in...we think its a big hit with the people in springfield as well. we have some new peg-heads to thank this week...john robinson bought the piece pictured here...so a big thank you to john..… Continue reading… 0 comments

we are back in lake mills for the next six months and look forward to a great schedule of art fairs all around the midwest. hopefully we will see many old friends and patrons along the way this season. our show last weekend was held at the promenade in bolingbrook, il. and it was blessed with great springtime weather. we think this first year show could have a bright future. we would like to send out a huge thank you to jim and jo and family...from naperville, il...for their kind patronage. they purchased one of peggy's favorite paintings...(grandmas recipe box)...and as you can see in this pic...they had a perfect spot for it in their beautiful home. they also have a large space above a fireplace in the great room that just might someday have another peggy original hanging there… Continue reading… 0 comments

we had a good weekend in estero...at the miromar fine art fair. its the second show we've done this "season" that is run by the "Hotworks" group. both have been well organized, well run events with a helpful staff and some nice amenities for the artists. we look forward to doing more of their shows in the future. many folks joined the ranks of the "peg-heads" this past weekend and we want to thank them all for their patronage...in particular...mr & mrs gillhooley as well as john b. who all live in naples... and mr & mrs adkins who live in bonita springs. the purchases these folks made really helped make our show a success. the picture shown here is peggy demonstrating at the art fair this past weekend..… Continue reading… 1 comment

the tarpon springs fine art festival was not blessed with the best weather this past weekend...but all in all...it was a well run and well attended event. saturday was warm and very windy...gusts to 45 mph...so that always makes for a tough day...then overnight on saturday a cool front blew thru and brought some t-storms and cooler temps for sunday. some off and on rain showers hung around til about 11 am but then the afternoon improved with some sunshine, lighter winds and pleasant temps. here is a link to more pics from tarpon springs...including some pics of the incredible "live oak" branch that hugged our tent all weekend... http://www.flickr.com/photos/35744245@N03/sets/72157616101059307/ some happy news from tarpon...peggy won a merit award..… Continue reading… 0 comments

the leesburg art festival was a well organized and well run event...we thank the show committee for all of their hard work. they treated the artists very well with some nice amenities. peggy won one of twelve merit awards for her fractured geranium painting...(shown here)...its always nice to earn a little recognition from the judges. there was a lot going on last weekend in leesburg...you can check out more pictures at our flicker site...here is a link... http://www.flickr.com/photos/35744245@N03/sets/72157615076499534/ this saturday we will be at the patio on the gulf of mexico up in pass-a-grille...for the saturday art market. its one of our favorite venues for an art fair...its almost like going to the beach. contact us if you need more details or directions to pass-a-grille… Continue reading… 0 comments

we had quite a weekend in punta gorda. we were lucky enough to be included in the adopt an artist program and we stayed overnight on friday and saturday at the very lovely home of kathleen d. of punta gorda...we can't thank her enough for her kindness...thanks also to show promoter richard sullivan for putting the program together. the peace river national art fair was a tale of two completely different days...weatherwise. while saturday was sunny and mild with great attendance...the pic is of peggy demonstrating on saturday and attracting quite a large group of interested patrons... sunday was almost a washout...or should I say wind out? a cold front blew through early on sunday morning...with only about 20 minutes of light rain..… Continue reading… 1 comment

this is our booth at the downtown orlando art expo last weekend. what a fabulous art fair! HUGE crowds...great weather...and the top notch mount dora center for the arts organization made for a wonderful weekend at the 34th annual mount dora art fair. we need to thank all the folks who became patrons and we certainly appreciate their support. the lavoie family(they bought the piece shown here), the robels family, the monroe family and the carr family all purchased significant pieces of peggy's work...so we just want to send out a special thank-you to them...and to everyone else who made purchases at our booth. our season continues this week as we head south to estero, florida and the coconut point art fair. this show is held on the grounds of the coconut point town center which is a fabulous shopping and entertainment complex on highway 41 near estero… Continue reading… 0 comments

after a great weekend in st pete beach...we are looking forward to our show this weekend at st armand's circle in sarasota, florida. this is a very nice shopping and dining area close to the gulf and lido beach. its also a great venue for this well attended art fair with approx 200 artists setting up on the circle and surrounding streets. after a rainy thursday and friday...the forecast is calling for a cool and sunny weekend which should be perfect for anyone who wants to come out and take a walk around st armands and enjoy the sights and sounds. we hope many of you will make it a point to come out to the art fair this weekend...and if you do...we are in booth number 26...which is on the avenue of the presidents. see you there! here is a link to more info... http://www.artfestivalContinue reading… 1 comment

we did two art fairs last weekend on a chilly saturday...starting with the pass-a-grille art market...and then we drove over to gulfport for the artwalk. the attached pic shows our booth...under the lights. we want to pass along our thanks to mr a. warren who purchased an original watercolor at the pass-a-grille show. we enjoyed speaking with him at the show that day and we really appreciate his patronage. the weather looks to be a little more florida-like for this coming weekend when we will again be at the pass-a-grille art market on saturday...and then on sunday we will be in st pete beach at the suntan art group beach art market. we did the show back in december and look forward to going back. its a great location right on gulf drive and adjacent to the beach… Continue reading… 0 comments

the crowds were large in cape coral last weekend...with the perfect weather there was no better place to be than on cape coral parkway enjoying the day. we need to thank mr and mrs tarr who stopped in our booth and found the perfect piece of art for a spot in their home...apparently they had been searching for quite awhile. we thank them for there support...they bought the piece shown here and it helped make our cape coral visit a success. we have a full day planned for this next saturday...january 17th...starting with the saturday art market in pass-a-grille from 9am til 2pm and then we will be taking part in the gulfport gallery night from approx 4 til 10pm… Continue reading… 0 comments

its the start of a new art fair year. cape coral, fl is up first...and we look forward to a great weekend to start the year off. this is a big show that covers several blocks of cape coral parkway with some beautiful artwork...and always draws a big crowd. we have done this show for a number of years and always enjoy going back to this neat city. last weekend we were in pass-a-grille for the art market there. as you can see in the attached pic...pass-a-grille is a pretty nice place to spend some time. we will back there on jan 17 & 24. thanks for reading..… Continue reading… 0 comments

well...I guess its "so long 2008...hello 2009". we are looking forward to the new year. we have been fortunate enough to have been juried into some of the top art fairs in florida this spring...so we look forward to those. and we also have been having fun with the smaller shows sponsored by the suntan art group up in st pete beach and pass-a-grille...they take place right on the gulf of mexico...in fact...the holiday greetings in the pic were scratched into the sand on st pete beach. we will be in pass-a-grille again this saturday at the saturday art market...and possibly will be there on sunday at the sunday bazaar which is a market featuring art, produce, antiques and more...its also held on "the patio" on pass-a-grille beach...as long as there is no rain in the forecast for sunday..… Continue reading… 0 comments

we enjoyed our time at the saturday art market last weekend. the show has really grown in numbers and in quality...with many new artists on the patio. it seems to be a perfect compliment to a saturday "at the beach" in pass-a-grille. (the pic shows a historic marker...with the story of pass-a-grille.) we will be there again on dec 27, jan 3,17, and 24. hope to see you there. also on dec 28 and jan 25 we will be part of an art fair in st pete beach. it will take place from 10am to 4pm on those two sundays...please contact us or the suntan art group for more info on these shows. happy holidays to everyone...we thank you all for your support thru the year and we look forward to seeing you at an art fair in the future. thanks for reading. peace..… Continue reading… 0 comments

we will be in pass-a-grille...on the patio for the saturday art market. the market runs from 9am to 2pm on saturday only. it is a beautiful spot just off the beach in downtown pass-a-grille. weather looks to be just about perfect...hopefully some of you can make it out to enjoy the day and views of the gulf of mexico. last weekend was anna maria winterfest...peggy was delighted to have won a second place award in the watercolor division. her new work on canvas really seems to be catching the judges eye... as I type this there is a winter storm rolling thru wisconsin...we hope friends and family stay safe and warm. thanks for reading..… Continue reading… 0 comments

it was quite a weekend in cocoa beach at the 45th annual space coast art fair last weekend. saturday was a beautiful day...and a lot of people came out to enjoy the atmosphere in downtown cocoa beach. peggy was happy to have two of her art works selected for judging...which is pretty impressive in an art fair of this quality. and we must thank the leader family from cleveland, ohio for their support as they purchased an original watercolor from us on saturday...and we hope they had no problems getting it back home to ohio. sunday turned out to be a windy day with a pretty good chance of afternoon showers...not good, cause we were hoping to see the space shuttle make a landing at nearby cape kennedy. alas sunday was both good and bad… Continue reading… 0 comments

thanks to everyone involved with the deland fall festival of the arts...from the organizers to the volunteers to everyone who came out to the show...it was a pleasure to be a part of this fine show. now we head to cocoa beach for the 45th annual space coast art fair. we enjoyed our time in cocoa beach last year and look forward to a good show this weekend. something rather unique might be happening at the show this year...weather permitting...on sunday the space shuttle is supposed to be coming home from its latest mission and landing at cape canaveral which is very near the show site. so if every thing goes according to plan all the folks at the show might be treated to quite a special event. we'll keep our fingers crossed. thanks for reading..… Continue reading… 0 comments

a big thanks to hotworks ltd for putting together a very nice art fair at the miromar outlet mall (shown here) in estero, florida. it was quite a weather weekend with saturday being very hot and humid while sunday...thanks to a cold front passing thru on saturday night...turned out to be cool, crisp and sunny. so there was something for just about everyone in the weather department. we were happy to have had some success at the show and would like to thank Mary L who lives in cape coral...she bought a large original watercolor...one of our favorites...we hope she gets many years of enjoyment from her purchase. now we prepare for the "fall festival of arts" in deland florida coming up this weekend. we've not done this show before but have been told its a well run..… Continue reading… 0 comments

greetings... we are in florida...and heading to estero and the miromar outlet mall for their fine art show this weekend. it is located on corkscrew road just east of I-75. hope many of you can come out to the show. shown is a new 12_12 original iris painting that we will have at the estero show. also wanted to let everyone know that our new winter art fair schedule is posted on peggys profile page...not all the jurying has been completed so some shows (as noted) are tentative as of now...but we will keep it updated as we receive further notifications. thanks for reading... hope to see you at the shows..… Continue reading… 0 comments

the earth wood and fire studio tour was held last weekend and with some nice autumn weather and lower gas prices...we had a good turnout of folks who were out visiting the studios. thanks to teri and david e. for their kind patronage in purchasing the three pieces shown in the picture here for their new home in new berlin. we hope they get much enjoyment from them. next on our agenda is a trip to the sunshine state where we will take up residence (for six months) in palmetto, fl and start our winter art fair tour. first up is a show in estero florida on the weekend of nov 15&16 at the miromar shopping outlet which is right off of I-75 on corkscrew road. we are looking forward to some new shows...many that we have never gotten into before… Continue reading… 0 comments

last weekend we were in galena, illinois for this years edition of the galena country fair. its a pretty big deal out in jo davies county and was very well attended on a perfect autumn weekend. with sunny skies, temps in the 70's and some beautiful fall colors everybody visiting this historic little town seemed to be having a great time. peggy won the blue ribbon for first prize in the fine art division of the fair...which is always a nice honor to receive. our time in wisconsin is growing short as we will be heading to florida right after the upcoming elections. however...before we go we have one more wisconsin art event to tell you about. its the 2008 earth, wood and fire artist tour… Continue reading… 0 comments

last weekend we were scheduled for an art fair in chicago, il...in the lakeview east neighborhood near wrigley field. unfortunately...the remnants of hurricane ike had other plans...and dropped quite a soaking on the entire midwest. I guess a canceled art fair is pretty minor when compared with the devastation ike brought to the gulf coast. our thoughts are with the folks down there. the weather forecast is certainly looking great for the riverssance art fair this weekend in lindsay park in davenport, iowa. last year was the first time we had participated in this show and we had a great time in the quad cities area...so it will be fun to get back there this weekend. our booth space number is 46 and the show hours are 10-6 on saturday...and 10-4 on sunday… Continue reading… 0 comments

it was a great weekend at the oak brook invitational fine art fair in the oak brook center mall. check out the attached photo...this was the scene right behind our booth...and my picture probably doesn't do it justice...it is a beautiful and well cared for shopping center. we had great weather and good crowds over the holiday weekend...all making for an enjoyable stay in chicagoland. now its mt mary week...its the only art fair that we know of that has a week named for it. its a starving artist type art fair held at mt mary college in milwaukee, wi on sunday sept 7th and all of the art sold there must be priced at $100 or less. needless to say...its a very popular art fair year after year. we will have a decent selection of art at this years show..… Continue reading… 0 comments

what started on a less than ideal saturday morning...weatherwise...ended up with arguably the most beautiful sunday of the year...so far. sunshine along with low humidity and cooler temps made for a spectacular day for everyone at the stonewood village art fair in brookfield, wi. we must mention lisa s. from johnson creek, wi. lisa purchased peggys newest painting (shown here) a gold tone still life that we framed right before we left for the show in brookfield on friday. we hope she gets much enjoyment from the new addition to her home decor. thank you lisa! now we look forward to one of our favorite art fairs of the year...its the oak brook invitational art fair held in the oak brook center mall in oak brook, il. this is one of the finest malls in chicagoland..… Continue reading… 0 comments

well...art in the park...lake geneva 2008 is in the books. wow...this summer is flying by! we had great weather and as you can see by the photo...library park is a beautiful site for an art fair. we want to thank Karen R. from east troy, wisconsin...she purchased a large red tryptich (three piece original painting) first thing on saturday morning to help start our weekend on the right foot. and we also want to mention Colleen H. from wauwatosa, wi who purchased three original pieces from us on sunday...just before closing time...she was at the show with her mother who also bought an original piece from us...so thanks to those ladies for helping to make the show a success. we hope they all get many years of enjoyment from the artwork they bought… Continue reading… 1 comment

we learned something new this weekend...while exhibiting at the firefly art fair in wauwatosa, wi. a patron told us that wauwatosa is the potowotomi word for "firefly". it could have also meant beautiful weather because after a week of intense heat and humidity...the weekend was cooler and much less humid with alot of sunshine. I guess it was a chamber of commerce kind of weekend. the kneeland-walker house is an ideal setting for an art fair and thanks to all the great volunteers and to the patrons who came out to support the show. we also have a special thank-you for sue j. who took this piece home...one of our favorites...to hang over her fireplace...we're glad that purple is her new color...and we certainly hope she gets many years of enjoyment from her purchase… Continue reading… 0 comments

a pic of our booth at appleton...it was a beautiful day...no need for a canopy...so we took advantage of all the natural light to show off peggys paintings. its another benefit we've enjoyed from the watercolor on canvas. back in the day...when watercolors needed framing with matting and glass...great care was req'd to keep paintings under cover and out of the sun to prevent fading, glare and worse yet...condensation or(sweating)...which is water forming inside the glass and that is not good for art on paper. with the watercolors painted on canvas...because they require no glass...we can set up our booth without the canopy roof and let the sun help show off the colors peggy uses in her work… Continue reading… 0 comments

at the lake mills art fair... all week the weekend forecast called for rain and t'storms...they were talking heavy rain...friday...friday night and saturday...and saturday night. well...other than a little drizzle and light rain on saturday between 7am and 9am...we escaped with partly cloudy skies and warm temps...a pretty great day for an art fair. wow...the weathermen were wrong...go figure! here is a big thank you to everyone who came out and supported the 3rd annual Lake Mills Fine Art Show and to all the volunteers who worked hard all day making it as good as it could be. after the art fair ended...we co-hosted (along with friends bonnie and ron elvidge) a house concert at our place in downtown lake mills. it featured a great band out of madison, wi...called "the getaway drivers".… Continue reading… 0 comments

first up...a picture from the "off the square" show with the capitol building in the background. it really is a beautiful setting for an art fair...and it turned out to be a nice weather weekend as well. big crowds came out and walked the two art fairs. it was the 50th anniversary for the "on the square" show...while next year will be the 30th anniversary for the "off the square" show. this coming weekend is the 3rd annual Lake Mills Art Fair here in our little hometown...we will have approx 47 quality artists in "commons park" downtown. the show will start at 10am and go to 4pm. there will be free music and good eats and a kids art tent as well. it will be a lot less hectic than the big art fairs like last week...but no less fun… Continue reading… 0 comments

peggy has been hard a work getting ready for the "off the square" show. here is a new triptych that we will have on display this weekend in downtown madison, wi. each piece is 18_36 inches so the entire triptych will cover an area of approx 3'x5'. we will have a number of newly finished paintings on display...we hope you can make it out to the show. we are in space number 68...which is located on MLK Jr Blvd...between doty and wilson streets. the show runs from 9-6 on saturday and then 10-5 on sunday. also FYI... next wednesday...july 16th is christmas in july in beautiful downtown lake mills...along with the weekly farmers market many of the downtown shops will be featuring sidewalk sales...even santa will be paying a visit...and there will be a band concert at 7pm… Continue reading… 0 comments

now we look forward to the "art fair off the square" on the weekend of july 12&13. this show was started by wisconsin artists who, for whatever reason, were unable to jury into the "art fair on the square" which is on the same dates and is situated around the capitol square in downtown madison. "on the square" seems to put an emphasis on having out of state artists be in their show. so I guess it only seems right that another show was begun nearby for wisconsin artists to be apart of. its a very high quality show that we artists in the "Wisconsin Artist and Craftspeople" put on ourselves. here are the details...the show is located between the capitol building and monona terrace and takes place on saturday july the 12th from 9am to 6pm and sunday the 13th from 10am to 5pm… Continue reading… 1 comment

this weekend we will be in spring green, wi for their annual art fair downtown. hoping conditions have improved for the folks up there after way too much rain over the past few weeks. maybe the art fair will serve as a diversion from all the problems...at least for a day or two. here is a pic of a new triptych that peggy has just completed...each piece is 18"_36" and we will have them on display at the show this weekend. hope to see you there. thanks for reading..… Continue reading… 1 comment

a short report on our show last weekend in Paducah, Ky. we really enjoyed our time in Paducah...its a small town located in western Kentucky...just across the ohio river from illinois. its actually situated where the tennessee and ohio rivers come together. its a town with a rich history...much of which is portrayed on a series of murals that are painted on a flood wall that lines the river through the downtown area...very well done. the downtown area is filled with galleries, shops and eateries...a fun place to visit. and then there is "lowertown"...its an area of older homes a few blocks from downtown that is being revitalized into one of the largest art districts in the country… Continue reading… 1 comment

my apologies for the tardiness of this blog...we were on the road for ten days and I found myself with no internet access...so I could not update the blog til now. our shows begin again on june 8th in oshkosh, wi...but more on that later. in the meantime I will report on our just completed road trip to springfield,il and paducah,ky. first up was the "old capital art fair"...held around the "old capital building" in downtown springfield on may 17th and 18th. it was quite a sight to see all the art fair tents set up around and on the grounds of this very historic building...it is a beautiful setting. the weather was fantastic, the crowds were large and people came out to enjoy just being outdoors...after a long, long winter… Continue reading… 0 comments

a rough day at olbrich garden...temps near 50?...cloudy with occasional rain (maybe a snowflake or two) and a gusty north wind. pretty much the opposite of what we were hoping for. thanks to the hearty folks who ventured out to the show! one of these years the weather will cooperate. thankfully our trip back to wisconsin was uneventful...with decent weather all the way home. now after having the upcoming weekend off(woo-hoo!)we look forward to our 10 day trip to shows in springfield,il and paducah,ky coming up later this month. hope to see some of you there. the attached pic is of a very cold artist, that you might recognize, standing next to our booth at olbrich garden...can you see her shivering? thanks for reading..… Continue reading… 0 comments

despite the fact that the temperature in wisconsin this morning (monday april 28) was 35 degrees with snow flurries...and that the forecast for our show saturday in madison is mid 50's and rain...despite all of that...we are heading for home...and we will hopefully pull in sometime on thursday may 1st. between now and then we have plenty of things to do around here before we leave...between the last few chores around the house and the packing of the van...we will be pretty busy up until the time we head out. our weekend at the melbourne art fair went well with fabulous weather and large crowds. peggy had two pieces selected for judging...which was neat...the competition was tough though...and neither was fortunate enough to have won an award… Continue reading… 0 comments

wow...can this really be our final week in florida? we have one more show next weekend over in melbourne. after that we we pack up and head for home in wisconsin and an art fair in madison on may 3rd at olbrich gardens. here is hoping for decent weather for this years show...its been a few years since they have had a good weather weekend. they deserve it. peggy's workshop went well on saturday and plans are already in the works for more workshops next "season"...thanks to everyone who took part...hopefully you all got a little something from the class...and will be working hard on your watercolors on canvas this summer. the photo this week comes from the home of john and carolyn insel..… Continue reading… 0 comments

I'm going to change things up a little bit this week...so this is the view FROM our booth at the tarpon springs art fair this weekend...and what a view it is. this body of water is the "spring bayou" and what a great site for an art fair. we even saw a pair of dolphins swimming around in the bayou and in fact they did a swim-by right past the front of our booth. the weather was "as good as it gets" for an art fair and the crowds were large on saturday. all things considered...we would take a carbon copy day on sunday. here's hoping... next weekend peggy is teaching a workshop at the manatee art center on saturday from 10am til 1 pm...and we also have an art fair down in estero florida at the coconut point town center..… Continue reading… 0 comments

formerly known as "siesta fiesta"...but now officially named "the ocean avenue art and wine festival"...we think the show is pretty much still "siesta fiesta" and thats what most locals were calling it. its actually more of a big beach party than an art fair...and mostly just provides something to look at when folks weren't on the beach or in a bar/restaurant. it was quite a people watching scene. thankfully...we lucked out in the weather dept...with weekend rain chances predicted at upwards of 60%...most of the weekend was sunny and dry until late sunday afternoon when a few raindrops fell. our next show will be the tarpon springs fine art festival this coming weekend...april 12 & 13...in craig park on spring street up in tarpon springs… Continue reading… 0 comments

coming up this weekend is the "ocean blvd art & wine fair" in siesta key. we've not done this show before but have heard some good reports and are looking forward to a fun weekend in "siesta". there will be a shuttle from the mainland to the show site all day both days to help relieve traffic congestion on the island. if you need any more info on the show please call or email and we will try to help. the photo this week is a new piece peggy has recently finished. it will be available at the show this weekend...as well as several more brand new pieces. hope to see you there. sadly...the bright spot of our art fair weekend in st augustine was the fish tacos we had at campeche bay cantina on saturday evening. it was a mixed weekend weatherwise..… Continue reading… 0 comments

it was indeed a good friday at the pass-a-grille art mart...a special friday edition...and the last time we will be able to participate this spring. it was a gorgeous day and the pic that is included here is the view behind our booth. its the gulf of mexico and the beach in pass-a-grille. it was a good crowd and we talked to many midwesterners who were down for the holiday...from them we learned that wisconsin was in the throes of a "first day of spring" snowstorm...so hopefully the view of the sand, sky and surf will provide a little "warmth" for our family and friends back in wisconsin. we have added a new show to our schedule this april...it will be april 19 and 20 and will take place at the coconut point mall in estero, fl… Continue reading… 0 comments

it was a beautiful weekend for an art fair in lakewood ranch...which is a huge new planned community near bradenton/sarasota just east of I-75. the show site is in their new downtown area...which is lined with shops, galleries, restaurants and some very nice landscaping. its really a great site for an art fair. some good news this weekend...peggy won a second place ribbon in the painting category...which is always a nice happening. and we also had a nice response to the upcoming watercolor workshop that peggy will be teaching at the manatee art center. the workshop will deal with painting on watercolor canvas. the date is april 19th from 10am til 1pm. you can contact us or the art center directly if you might be interested in attending. next up for us is a special good friday show..… Continue reading… 2 comments

well...this years show was one for the books. as I mentioned in my last post...saturday was canceled after a stormy overnight friday...but sunday promised to be a beautiful day for a one day art fair. it was a perfect day for a show and a good crowd turned out. however...the crazy happenings were not over yet. first the show layout had to be altered due to some pretty wet areas of the grounds...and despite everyones best effort the new layout was less than ideal. then the very nice and large portable bathroom facility they had brought in for the show decided it wasn't going to work and everyone had to make do with 4 port-a-potties. finally one vendor took ill and the paramedics needed to be called..… Continue reading… 0 comments

falls mainly on the art mart...darn...the day started beautifully...see the pic of peggy in the sunshine...but the clouds soon rolled in and though most of the artists tried to hang in there through the intermittent sprinkles and strong winds...when the really ominous clouds started rolling in we all took down asap and headed for home. It was another well attended event though...by artists (15) and patrons. we hope to be back to pass-a-grille again in march...check back here for confirmation and possible dates. next week is the downtown venice show on March 1 and 2 from 10-5 both days. thanks for reading...and make it a great "leap day"… Continue reading… 0 comments

We exhibited at the 20th annual Downtown Sarasota Art Fair this past weekend. Wow...what a perfect weekend weatherwise...sunshine both days with temps near 80...it doesn't get much better...(We thought about our golf buddies in the cold and snow back home in Wisconsin). We had great crowds on both days...and many folks brought their dogs out with them...one fellow even brought his cat out for a walk...on a leash! Here is a picture of our booth and thats Peggy inside...taking a break from the sun. Our next show is in downtown Venice, Fl on March 1&2...although we may go back to the Pass-a-Grille Art Mart this next Saturday...I will post a notice here...later this week...if we will be there. Thanks for reading and have a great week… Continue reading… 1 comment

greetings... we did a show in pass-a-grille, fl this past saturday 2/9/08...its a small saturday morning "art market" that is open from 9am til 2pm...with a max of 17 artists who set up on a little patio adjacent to the beach in the historic downtown area. the show is put on by a local art group...the suntan artists...and has been in operation for about two years. we were impressed with the attendance on a cool and not so sunny florida morning...unfortunately a pesky drizzle and less than promising forecast forced the artists to start packing up about an hour early. we will hopefully be back to the pass-a-grille art market between now and May...on weekends that we don't have two day art fairs. possible saturdays include feb 23, march 22 and april 19...check back here for confirmation… Continue reading… 0 comments
