  • I took this picture at the Cowboy Club in Sedona, AZ. You can see why they call it the cowboy club! If you ever have the opportunity of going there, drop in! Everything inside is geared towards the cowboy's style of life...the decor, the food, the dress and even the people that work there. This was a fun picture to take depicting the all-american cowboy from Arizona posing with his horse~

She believes in sisterhood and has written some very poignant words on the back of her limited sets of notecards which is one place that her art is promoted. " Friends"~Laurie Burke Shields and Robert Shields
  • " Friends"~Laurie Burke Shields and Robert Shields
  • Color Photography | 5" x 7"
  • This photo was taken by me at the Enchantment Resort in Sedona, Az. Robert had just married Laurie, and I was taking them out to dinner to celebrate with a belated Wedding gift in my possession. Unfortunately this was the last time I was able to see Laurie.(November 2006);as she passed at the very young age of 47,the following year in April. This photo is not for sale. I just admired Laurie so much that I wanted to share her as being a very integral part of Robert's life. She was a musician and also an overall fabulously talented business woman, who was an Angel, and still is. For more info on Laurie Burke Shields, you may see her tribute on www.Inmemoryof.com and type in Laurie Burke under the search~

Paniolo
  • Paniolo
  • Color Photography | 8" x 10" x 1"
  • This picture is of a friend; a Paniolo, or Hawaiian cowboy. It was taken at Sedona recently when he came to visit. His horse was provided by the "Cowboy Club" of Sedona, and he mounted it with pride, just because everyone said he couldn't! The history of Paniolos goes way back to 1832 when King Kamehameha III contacted Mexican vaqueros who were expert horsemen with plenty of cattle experience. They arrived with boots and saddles, and a new language and also a flamboyant new lifestyle for the Big Island of Hawaii. Waimea(Kamuela) is one of the largest ranching areas there.

Ross the Master Muralist
  • Ross the Master Muralist
  • Color Photography | 5" x 7"
  • Last week I was fortunate enough to meet completely by chance, a master muralist who happen to be pulling up to the same little diner that I was, in Phoenix, AZ. His name is Ross Boyd. Ross has been painting and pinstriping for over 60 years, and as I got out of my car, I couldn't help but notice his colorful truck. The whole truck was an advertisement for Ross and a great way to promote his art. It was painted front to back, and both sides with fabulous art...detailed art, and then of course with a picture of Ross himself! The picture that I enjoyed the most was his self portrait which you see here. For more info or to contact Ross, please either go to: www.cafepress.com/AnimalsbyRoss or you may also find more at: www.wingchuntransformations.com Ross showed me the Valentine mural he had done, which consisted of several panels of mirrors across the entire front of the diner. There were many interesting cartoon characters on his mural... many that I recognized. I will be posting them to a new art gallery soon that I will call "Simply Ross"~

Melissa from Waikoloa, Hawaii
  • Melissa from Waikoloa, Hawaii
  • Watercolor | 4" x 6"
  • If you are ever on the Big Island of Hawaii, and want to meet a fun loving artist who paints beautifully in watercolors, please drop by Waikoloa, and visit the Hilton, where you can find Melissa Ozaki enthusiastically showing her creations to guests and potential buyers. I first met Melissa there a few years ago, while I was on vacation. Ironically, her mother ended up living almost in the same neighborhood as me, in Arizona.... (within 10 minutes) So began a wonderful friendship, that we carry on (mostly long distance) to this day! I have written a blog on this site to give you a bit more info about Melissa. Actually,I cannot say enough about her. She is a wonderful, original watercolor artist, who paints from the heart and shares it much the same way!! She draws from her natural surroundings which makes Melissa's work well received. Each time that I see a new piece, it makes me smile... Her subjects are many; but the ones that I like the most are the ones that show a bit of her childlike personality. There are many. Currently Melissa has about 70 + different prints to her credit, and many of these are also being sold on cards. I always enjoy buying from her and sending just the right card to a friend or a family member. It's wonderful to be able to give a little piece of art this way to a special someone in your life! For more info about Melissa and her outlook on her work as a watercolor artist; please read my blog and see additional pixs of her's on Facebook under Melissa Ozaki Hawaiian watercolors.Such a great treat!
