"Inside the Mystery Castle"
  • "Inside the Mystery Castle"
  • Color Photography | 8" x 10"
  • Inside of the Mystery Castle on South Hill in Az. there is a chapel of sorts that was built by a man for his bride. There is a lot of tradition and forethought that went into this work of art. The Mystery Castle was built all from discarded scrap and materials left over, yet this divine individual found a way to show us beauty in every single room of the castle, including his makeshift chapel. The Mystery Castle shows us just what human spirit can accomplish~

  • I took this picture of what I consider to be "Spirits" at the Mystery Castle on South Hill,in AZ. The mystery castle was built entirely out of scraps and discarded materials over a number of years by a man very dedicated to building his bride a home. This took place decades ago, and took him decades to build. It still stands today as a tourist attraction, and this photograph depicts the "spirits" I saw on the stone wall inside of the Mystery Castle~~

"The Shoes"
  • "The Shoes"
  • Color Photography | 8" x 10"
  • In the Mystery Castle on South Hill, in Arizona, there is a chapel where weddings were once held. In the corner of the Chapel is a shelf that holds many shoes. The odd thing is that there is actually only one of each shoe, even tho' you may think that you are looking at pairs! Look closer~ The story goes like this... If you are a bride getting married in the chapel, you are told that after the ceremony, you are to take off and leave one shoe upon that shelf. If you do so, your husband will not stray and you will be happy and married forever~ Hmmm, they do not tell you what will happen if you don't! I found this to be amusing, and have written a very clever little haiku verse to go along with this picture. It will come with the signed, matted print.

"My Spiritual Retreat"
  • "My Spiritual Retreat"
  • Color Photography | 5" x 7"
  • This picture was taken in Sedona Az., which I consider to be my spiritual retreat.Sedona was named after Sedona Schnebly who along with her husband came to the Sedona area in 1901. They were a Pennsylvania Dutch couple who purchased 80 acres of land there. Hoping to get a post office established.Theodore Schnebly submitted the name "Scnebly Station", but it was rejected as too long. His brother Ellsworth therefore suggested Theodore's wife's name which was Sedona, and it was accepted In 1902 the town was officially named Sedona. The red rocks of Sedona and the magnificent pinnacles created by mother nature bring thousands of visitors to Sedona each year as a spiritual retreat. Sedona is a work of art itself and a land of majestic beauty. There is plenty of opportunity to take inspirational pictures every time that I go there.I consider it my "Spiritual Retreat."
