Springtime happens to be my very favorite time of the year!
This is so for many reasons; the first being that I look at it as a time of renewal, a time of re-birth. It is the time of the year when the flowers are blooming, even here in the desert, and the birds are up earlier, thus so am I!
Springtime means many things to me. It is when clocks are set forward, and we "Spring Ahead", rather than fall back. It is a time that I seem to have more energy just looking at all of the bright sunflowers and watching the tree's leaves return~ In any case, Spring also includes Easter, which is definitely a time for re-birth and renewal~It is a time for "New Life"
I have always loved Doves. They are a symbol of peace…

In Celebration Of Mary
by decal5 , March 25, 2012—12:00 AM
I must say that I was devastated, after reading about the passing of Mary Lawler recently;but I also want to communicate my appreciation to Annie Steiner for writing such a wonderful tribute to Mary,in her latest blog.
Mary impressed me from day one. When I first joined artid, it was Mary who made it a point to make me feel at home. She wrote me a note about one of the pictures that I had posted and thanked me for jogging her memory about "one of her favorite places on earth". It was the Hotel del Coronado, from the San Diego area of California. We discussed how spectacular the dining room was there, and she said that she hoped to be able to go back there again some day…

A Thing of Beauty
by decal5 , February 18, 2012—06:57 AM
I have always had a passion for Mother Nature, and all of the wonderful creative art that she provides me with, on a daily basis! There is almost never a day that can go by, that I don't spot some beautiful flower or creature that she has allowed me the priviledge of sharing with her~
Mother Nature is cool. She is a thing of beauty to me, rather than a person, or the embodiment of human flesh! She is almost everywhere I go outdoors; and I have yet to say that for even one minute she has disappointed me....
Mother Nature is the "protective" Mother of this planet that we call EARTH, and yet she is still willing to share with me....All I have to do is get up and get out! She makes it easy by providing me with tons of material to shoot. Whether it be an early morning bird..…

Happy Autumn Everyone!
by decal5 , November 1, 2011—12:00 AM
Happy Autumn everyone!! November 1st is now upon us,and it lterally sprang up out of nowhere! This year has flown by so fast, that I still think of it as being only the beginning of Summer...Now we are already into Fall, with Old man Winter, close at our heels!
Fall reminds me of so many things. When the leaves on the trees start to change colors and fall, it reminds me that this is the end of another season; just like the seasons of our lives;and that we too are due for change whether we like it or not! Sometimes, it is for the best.... even though we may not know it at that time..All change is good...because it helps us to grown and move on........ Sometimes onward and upward to bigger and better things for the new year! We shut one door and open another…

California Missions
by decal5 , January 28, 2011—12:00 AM
One of the things that I have been interested in since my childhood, is to be able to tour all of the 21 California Missions. Being a native Californian, you would think that it would be an easy thing to accomplish; but for me it is still on my "Bucket List", as I age. Most of the years that I lived in California were working years when I was establishing myself and my career. There were not too many free moments, and that is one thing that I now regret.
As I grow older, I realize that this is still one of my dreams and if we don't have dreams, what do we have?
Dreams are meant to be in our lives so that we can turn them into reality. This is one dream that I am working on, especially since I left California in 1980 as a resident…

Happy New Year 2011!
by decal5 , January 2, 2011—12:00 AM
Happy New Year to all. May you, your families, loved ones and friends be blessed beyond your wildest imagination this year. May 2011 bring you good health, good fortune, good love, and peace! These are my wishes for you!
When I think of the New Year's arrival,2011 seems to have come out of no where. Where did 2010 go? Search me!!
Now that we are in 2011, it is time not just to make new year's resolutions; but to make "Commitments" to ourselves as well as to others! Resolutions are made and broken every single year. We all do it. We probably all have good intentions, but resolutions seem to be something that we think no one will notice if we forget…

Holidays and Family~
by decal5 , December 25, 2010—12:00 AM
Today is a very special day in our family. It is not only Christmas Day, but it is also the day that my mother Anita was born. Mom passed on in 2006, but her heart and her spirit still lives on in each of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren today!
Mom had nine children and was the type of mother who you always knew was there for you. Even if she had to work, she made sure that she was home when the kids got out of school;and if she couldn't be, then she would send our Aunt Alice over to pitch hit! That is the kind of Mom that my Mother was; loving, caring always a beautiful spirit gracing this earth with her unconditional love qnd support.
She was not only this force in our family's life, but she was this force in everyone's life she touched…

Wolfs Robe Plays the Flute
by decal5 , November 14, 2010—12:00 AM
For those of you who read my blogs, you may know a bit about me. I am of Native American Ancestry, with my Mother's mother; my Grandmother Rose Pastora, being a full-blooded Shoshone Native American~. For this reason, I often seek out Native American artists who either draw, paint, do sculpture, basket weaving/making or beading; or who create art in one way or another. As you know many Native American Indians are wonderful Jewelry makers…

It is already November. I don't know where this year went! It seems like only yesterday it was September, and all of a sudden October zipped on by. Maybe it was because I had lots of things going on in October, like a brother in the hospital, and a lot of traveling to do...maybe it was just that time passes by at the same rate for everyone, but for me it seemed to fly by at warp speed! In any case, It is November, and time for me to reflect on all that has gone by and all that I have to be thankful for this year!
First of all I would like to thank my family for being my backbone when times were tough. We all need a little help from time to time, so thank you for holding me up those times I was getting ready to fall..…

~The Art of healing through Art~
by decal5 , September 27, 2010—12:00 AM
Today is Monday, September 27, 2010. Four years ago, and one week before that, on September 20th, I was hoping to celebrate my "60th" Birthday; but unfortunately, it was not to be. Today September 27, 2010 is the four year Anniversary of my mother's passing~
When I first came to ArtId, I knew that I would not only be bringing my Photography and my Haiku poetry here, but I would also be bringing some very emotionally charged memories with some of the photos that I took. Many were taken at various places that I had visited with Mom on mini-vacations, throughout the years…
