"Black sands beach"

The black sands beach at Waikoloa, Hawaii,on the Kohala coast is fascinating. Everywhere you go on the Kohala coast you will find volcanic ash formations from Mauna Kea. Mauna Kea is the highest volcano in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. It is now dormant. It last erupted 4,500 years ago; however, the Big island of Hawaii is still the only Hawaiian island that also has an active volcano. It is called Kilauea. Kilauea is part of Mauna Loa in the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park.
