I just wanted to tell you how much I love your painting "Grandpa's Shaving Mug". The use of color is superb, and the roses positively sing with light!

"Gorgeous" is the only word I can think of tonight.

Hey Deb,

I thought you might like to know that I used 3 of your paintings today for the Daily Dose in my intro classes. We are getting ready to start watercolor paintings in the style of Georgia O'Keefe and I was thinking it would be cool to look at how other artists have handled the subject of flowers. I thought your paintings would be a great place to start. It worked out nicely and the paintings were well received by the kids. I even threw your website URL up on the screen with the pcitures just in case anyone was interested to see more.

Wow! yourself. Your paintings are gorgeous. I'm particularly fascinated by the batik watercolor process. How is that done? I've always enjoyed making paintings look like a different process, and some of my "visual biographies" try to look like stained glass. Can you tell me how you do the "batik"?

Re: Competitions~
I can relate, I have made a similar resolution with my art work this year. I'm trying to become more actively involved in promoting my own work and getting it "out there". I'll have to start checking into online galleries as well now. Thanks for the heads up.

By the way, your work is too high caliber for parking lot shows.Your prices are more than fair and it may even be devaluing the work to have it shown in inappropriate venues. You should be in juried, high profile shows that attract an audience more likely to purchase work like yours. Are your prices for the painting un-matted and unframed?

Thank you for the input. My work hangs in one gallery in Cincinnati (last year I had a one-woman show there) and has been in several juried shows, including twice in Viewpoint, a national show sponsored by Cincinnati Art Club.

Since I did this show last year and had interest in my work, my goal this year is to "get my name out there" and hopefully pick up some students. I will have 4 framed paintings (which I don't expect to sell, but they exhibit what I do) and will have small pieces at lower prices and a few matted works.

I have a couple goals for the year - to get my work into another gallery and to enter 2-3 major shows.
