A sunburst shell painted in yellow, outlined in green with a dark red background
This was a crazy color combination that I wonder what I was thinking. But that's the point of experimenting, you see what works and what doesn't. If it doesn't work you never do it again. This is a sunburst shell. It's hard to see but the shell is outlined in cadmium green and it stands out with the alzirian crimson background. The background is also glazed with ultramarine blue. The background looks reddish and purplish. When I do another shell painting I am going to do something different. I just don't know what shell I want to use. Each shell inspires the colors. I think of what would go good with the shape of the shell. I might want to try a moonsnail shell. Purple and indigo. Have to think on it.
