The original painting was on exhibition at the National Arts Club in NYC in February 2009 and the limited edition print was recently on show at Parlor Gallery, Asbury Park. NJ and is being shown at The Dirty Show in Detroit, IL later this month. Original oil, watercolour, nail enamel and gesso on 100% cotton rag. Body of a Woman was inspired by two things. My gorgeous model, Amber and a poem by Pablo Neruda entitled Body of a Woman from his book, Twenty Love Poems and a Song of Despair. The canvas has the poem written on the back both in Spanish and English. "Body of a woman, white hills, white thighs. You look like a world, lying in surrender." My hope is that I have done his beautiful poem justice… Continue reading… 0 comments

Gibbons: This is the very first hard-cover book, EVER, dedicated to living artists of the contemporary male figure in traditional media like painting, drawing and sculpture. I do normally try to keep my blogs positive, however sometimes a person just needs to vent. During my career as an artist, I've been disappointed many times by galleries who refused to return my work; people who have reneged on sales; and so many others who in some way or other, took advantage of my being an artist to disrespect that this is my career. I've come to understand that many people have a twisted view of the value of an artist's work. I've learnt to deal with knowing that "no matter what!" people will steal my images off the internet and even in some instances, claim them as their own. I've learnt to move on and I've also "toughened up"… Continue reading… 1 comment

I've always hated openings and other social functions and an opening to a solo show has to be the worst. All those people who came to scrutinize my work and surround me with their thoughts and comments. I understand that its good for me and constructive criticism is always welcome. However, I started painting Will You Still Love Me? the night I came home from one such opening. There must have easily been two hundred people in that small room and I was overwhelmed and emotionally exhausted. I took it out on my canvas, that night painting for six hours before I fell into my bed in the "late" early hours of the morning. For the next two months, Will You Still Love Me? painted herself. I would look at her and see changes I'm fairly sure I did not make… Continue reading… 2 comments
