Making babies should be exciting, fun, and never a chore. It's about keeping it sexy and romantic while you are trying to conceive. The Fertile Fizz is a compelling book combining wonderful advice from fertility expert Jani White while adding an erotic twist that tackles head-on the undermining emotions of not conceiving, with 45 illustrations by yours truly and erotic poetry interspersed throughout. I am very excited to share with you a special event. My artwork has been included both on the covers and inside the newly published book 100 Artists of the Male Figure by E. Gibbons: This is the very first hard-cover book, EVER, dedicated to living artists of the contemporary male figure in traditional media like painting, drawing and sculpture. This book includes NO photography, NO digital imagery or cartoons, and NO erotic work; just beautiful works of painting, drawing and sculpture. The visual variety of the male form in this new book is astounding in its diversity, representing artists from all over the globe… Continue reading… 2 comments

On the day before Valentine's Day, Birmingham, Alabama hosted their second Erotic Art Exhibition. This year with tango dancers, a saxophone player and a fortune teller to complement the amazing belly dancers (who were even better than last year). There was plenty of first class erotic artwork including paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture and video. Masks were handed out to all the attendees at the door. Although many people wore their own masks to give an air of Mardi Gras combined with Venice to lend a Valentine's air to the event. Leo Ticheli is the organiser of Arts de Valentine which this year was held to support the Birmingham Women's Rape Crisis Center. http://www.crisiscenterbham.comContinue reading… 1 comment

I'm delighted that my drawing, Still in the Game has been selected for Calamus at 150 at the Hudson Guild Gallery, April 15 - June 1, 2010. This is a group show celebrating the 150th anniversary of the publication of the Calamus edition of Leaves of Grass. "I now suspect there is something fierce in you, eligible to burst forth: For an athlete is enamoured of me- and I of him. But toward him there is something fierce and terrible in me, eligible to burst forth," poem 36 http://artid.com/members/carolynweltman/art/35206-still-in-the-game/ If you would like to attend this show and need more information, please do contact me 0 comments

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world." -Mahatma Gandhi. Throughout the history of art many of our greatest artists, those who painted from their souls, have been persecuted, thrown in jail, belittled and made outcasts for expressing their ideas and beliefs through their work. Some of the greatest works of art have been destroyed or denounced, nudity and erotic art being no exceptions to this. Egon Schiele, Auguste Rodin and Edgar Degas (to name just three) were all thrown in jail for drawings and paintings that now appear in museums and galleries worldwide and are sold for millions of dollars apiece. Since the age of cave paintings, a majority of artists have depicted nudity and often erotica in their work… Continue reading… 11 comments

On Valentine's Day this year, Birmingham, Alabama hosted their very first Erotic Art Exhibition complete with belly dancers, (they were fabulous) masks, flashlights and most importantly, some really wonderful artwork. Leo Ticheli the organiser of this innovative event, unsure if he'd be run out of town or not, courageously rounded up his artists from both the immediate area and some of us from further afield to put together this event. Having been invited to attend and given a special mask to wear, I just as courageously headed south with a few of my paintings and drawings to lend a New York touch to the affair. The event brought in probably about four or five hundred people, we even witnessed a line at the door to get in… Continue reading… 3 comments

The day I decided to become an artist, I decided to do what is art. My decision to explore erotica and/or pornography in my painting and drawing was based on wanting to provide a message of acceptance and tolerance for one another. No judgements. One of the hardest lessons for us all to absorb. In my work I strive to demonstrate tolerance of self. Our bodies, minds, souls are to be honoured. Regardless of whether its Fine Art or Erotica or what some consider pornography that we're talking about, both are created from my time on earth, from my soul, my heart and my intellect, my sexuality and my physical being. To me, creativity is all of those things interwoven and working together… Continue reading… 1 comment
