100 Artists of the Male Figure now in bookstores ...
by CarolynWeltman , March 13, 2011—02:19 PM
I am very excited to share with you a special event.
My artwork has been included both on the covers and inside the newly published book 100 Artists of the Male Figure by E. Gibbons: This is the very first hard-cover book, EVER, dedicated to living artists of the contemporary male figure in traditional media like painting, drawing and sculpture. This book includes NO photography, NO digital imagery or cartoons, and NO erotic work; just beautiful works of painting, drawing and sculpture.
The visual variety of the male form in this new book is astounding in its diversity, representing artists from all over the globe…

A Homage to Curvy Women
by CarolynWeltman , July 6, 2010—12:00 AM
Yesterday I added a new gallery to my studio. A Homage to Curvy Women celebrates women's bodies and their beautiful curves. I've always loved to draw larger women, they remind me of voluptuous landscape. Hills and valleys.
Woman historically have many issues with their bodies, be they small or large, fat or thin, long-legged, short-waisted. I find all of you quite beautiful. However there have been women (and men) that I've not wanted to draw or paint. Its about who they are and not what they are.
And in case the men are feeling left out, I'll be adding a gallery for you soon. Interestingly, I do find larger women are more open to being drawn than larger men.
Enjoy my large and lovelies. I'll be happy to hear what you think of them. You'll find them right here ..…

She Flies Through the Air - female nude
by CarolynWeltman , June 19, 2010—12:00 AM
She Flies Through the Air was named after that wonderful song, "she flies through the air with the greatest of ease, the daring young girl on the flying trapeze ..."
My model, Beth stayed in this pose for a whole hour for me as well as doing two other poses during the same session. One of which was a complete inversion. She's so dedicated, don't you think?
This piece is also available as an open edition prints in smaller sizes and I also have the original drawing for sale. Please contact me for more information.
Price includes shipping charges…

The Showoff - equine
by CarolynWeltman , May 11, 2010—12:00 AM
Sometimes you have to try something new and I have decided to start drawing horses again. I've not drawn one since I was a little girl and other than police horses, there are not many models in New York City so I drew this fellow from my imagination. I hope everyone thinks he's a good start. The price includes shipping…

Still In The Game
by CarolynWeltman , March 26, 2010—12:00 AM
Still In The Game is possibly one of the strongest drawings I've ever done. So much power in this boxer down but not out and pulling himself up on the ropes.
Still In The Game is to be published in 100 Artists of the Male Nude later this year and will also be exhibited at Calamus 150, a show based on the Walt Whitman homoerotic poems. The show will be held at the Hudson Guild, NYC…

My World of Erotic Art - part 1
by CarolynWeltman , February 28, 2010—12:00 AM
The day I decided to become an artist, I decided to do what is art.
My decision to explore erotica and/or pornography in my painting and drawing was based on wanting to provide a message of acceptance and tolerance for one another. No judgements. One of the hardest lessons for us all to absorb. In my work I strive to demonstrate tolerance of self. Our bodies, minds, souls are to be honoured.
Regardless of whether its Fine Art or Erotica or what some consider pornography that we're talking about, both are created from my time on earth, from my soul, my heart and my intellect, my sexuality and my physical being. To me, creativity is all of those things interwoven and working together…

Letting Go ...
by CarolynWeltman , November 24, 2009—12:00 AM
I am very moved by the collaboration between Mike and myself.
Gods and Men is a piece that has a history spanning over two years. My initial desire to create the painting. Mac's exquisite ballet whilst hanging Sol for me and Sol's absolute dedication; a wonderful and moving performance art as I watched awestruck these two men bond in an unusual and unique situation. So much moving beauty and so much trust. My overwhelming responsibility to record and create that moving beauty on my paper.
Then there is David's part in filming the whole thing (as part of a documentary that I am hoping will soon be finalised) as I drew my original drawing posted here…

Stones and Gods and Men
by CarolynWeltman , November 20, 2009—12:00 AM
A few weeks ago, I was wandering around in Artid and found myself in Michael Moran's studio. http://artid.com/members/bamboobt/ I was immediately fascinated by Mike's stones and spent a long time in his studio looking at his work and reading his blogs.
I didn't contact Mike. However, about three days later I received an email from him telling me he liked my work too and would I consider a collaboration with him. I always pay attention to the universe and believe there are no coincidences. I did not need to think about it or be persuaded.
Mike has already started working with one of my images, Gods and Men and you can see the first piece of work in his blog. Mike is going to video tape the whole process and he and I will be writing a joint blog on our collaboration…
