A.J. Wood About
A.J. is an award winning artist, photographer and designer. His works are exhibited worldwide. As a child he received classical art training in his mother's studio. He was formally trained in the graphic arts field, and has enjoyed a 20 year career as an graphic artist and art director. A.J. has designed everything from microprint fonts to giant trade exhibits and massive murals. A.J. views his creative talent as a means of exploration. He loves researching the subject of his art as well as the various materials and methods for creating visual imagery. His non conformist approach to subject matter, style and method have found favor in the commercial art field, where he is frequently sought out for his adaptability.
A.J. is the founder of AWANGA (Art With a New Graphic Attitude). The premise of AWANGA is to converge technologies, experience, methods and materials from both the commercial and fine art communities. His goal is to produce lasting art that people will own because they fall in love with it. He believes that owning artwork should be as enjoyable and emotional as creating artwork. He loves to paint things that people are passionate about. He operates Hunting & Fishing Portraits, and Portraits for Bikers two studios that reflect two of his passions in life.
His studio is located in a Main Street loft in Joplin, Missouri. Plans are underway to expand the facility to house more artists.
